Software Engineering Manager, Control Plane

We’re looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead and grow the Snowflake production infrastructure control plane team. The team is responsible for snowflake multiple cloud provider infrastructure management in every Snowflake region. You will be leading a team of talented software engineers to build the system that optimizes and scales the platform for existing and future applications.

AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO:

• Set the strategic vision for your team and be accountable for team plans and deliverables
• Guide and lead team to build and develop software solutions for scaling infrastructure 
• Drive team projects from idea formulation, through design and implementation collaborating with partner teams
• Be able to shift resources across areas and projects to achieve execution goals and to respond to lessons from customer and production issues
• Provide strong technical leadership to the team with a focus on quality, performance, and security
• Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical decision-making
• Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team by participating in all steps of the recruiting process from sourcing to closing
• Be responsible for the career development of your reports, providing continuous mentorship and coaching
• Collaborate with other engineering teams and cross functional teams in Berlin and world-wide

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• 3+ years of engineering management experience
• 3+ years of experience with container orchestration technologies; preferably, Kubernetes
• A product development approach to delivering modern Cloud Infrastructure at scale.
• Proven track record of recruiting, hiring, leading and growing technical teams
• Rock solid engineering fundamentals with distributed systems experience 
• Extensive and strong development experience in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Experience in a SaaS environment
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience
