Software Engineering Manager II

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Mentor and lead a team of software engineers within the scope of their projects and performance
  • Deliver projects on-time and communicating it to the team, upper management and stakeholders
  • Contribute and help lead architecture, design, development and processes efforts with your team
  • Remove roadblocks reported by the team, which could require cross-team collaboration and or escalation, possibly up to executive management
  • Facilitate the right outcomes with data and conviction using diplomacy.
  • Maintain and stay abreast of current technologies and trends
  • Measure and improve team productivity
  • Maintain a manner of leadership and flexibility that diffuses pressure and promotes a team atmosphere
  • Assist in the creation of processes and procedures with input from other development teams
  • Support an open, learning, and progressive environment to allow the team's exploration of new solutions
  • Ensure right mix of personalities or skills in the project team composition by hiring solid candidates

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience managing software development teams
  • Experience in developing with one of Java, C++, C# or other object oriented programming languages
  • Strong understanding of distributed computing and best practices around SaaS
  • Hands of experience developing software with best practices for the full software development life cycle including code reviews and standards, source control management, continuous integration, testing and operations
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills
  • High maturity of diplomacy and ability to see and rationalize multiple points of view
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Additional Preferred Experience:
  • Hands on experience developing web services using REST or SOAP
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery or Deployment
