Software Engineering Manager II, Storage Security and Compliance

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  
• 8 years of experience with distributed systems concepts, designing, developing, and operating distributed systems.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
• 3 years of experience with C++ development.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  
• 3 years of experience working in a changing organization.
• Experience with security best practices, privacy regulations, and technologies used to protect sensitive data.
• Experience with various storage technologies, including different storage media, protocols, and distributed storage systems.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific standards.

In this role, you will define and drive the strategic direction for security and compliance initiatives, develop and deploy solutions, and guide technical decisions across Google's storage systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Manage and expand a team of engineers focused on building and enhancing security and compliance solutions for Google's storage systems.
• Partner with various teams across Google, including storage engineering, technical leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders, to drive security and privacy initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of security and compliance software that protects user data in Google's storage systems.
• Lead a team in addressing security and privacy challenges, such as access controls, authentication, authorization, encryption, and performance optimization.
• Lead a culture of quality, focusing on product excellence, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement in security and compliance solutions.
