Why this role?

This team crafts the digital face of Cohere, providing clear and engaging content that showcases our technology. They build and maintain go-to resources for anyone wanting to understand or build with Cohere products.

Please Note: We have offices in Toronto, San Francisco, New York, and London. We embrace a remote-friendly environment, and as part of this approach, we strategically distribute teams based on interests, expertise, and time zones to promote collaboration and flexibility. This team is concentrated in EST and PST time zones.

As a Software Engineering Tech Lead on this team, you will:

• Ship delightful experiences for our user-facing products, meticulously crafting code for browsers.
• Own and build robust services-oriented web experiences.
• Improve our data analytics pipelines, measure SEO effectiveness, and help marketing automate lead gen.
• Manage a small but enthusiastic team of software engineers
• Mentor and grow your engineering colleagues of all levels through direct pairing sessions, architectural designs, documentation and talks
• Identify and remove roadblocks that are blocking your team to increase engineering velocity and build resilient systems

You may be a good fit if:

• You’ve shipped fast and snappy web apps loved by many users
• You’re familiar with SEO and data analytics
• You have 8+ years of experience writing clean backend code. Our stack includes: Typescript, next.js, react, Golang, and Python. You care about bringing value to our users - It’s not just about chasing the latest web API or JS framework. You understand the balance between craft and speed
• You have been a tech lead, or a hands-on engineering manager, and you’re ok wearing the product manager hat from time to time
• You have excellent communication skills and believe that documentation are a great way to get feedback and discuss technical implementations and designs. You have the ability to take complex needs and goals and develop easy to understand explanations for all audiences to understand
• You have an entrepreneurial spirit and motivation to scale a company or you’ve worked as a founding engineering
