Software Lifecycle Engineer

As part of ISCD, the Software Architecture and Engineering Department (SAED) develops and applies methods and tools to help build secure, resilient, and adaptable software for critical systems. We are seeking a software lifecycle engineer to join our growing group as we advance the technologies needed to carry out a variety of space missions critical to our nation and the world.
What You'll Be Doing
- Apply your software lifecycle and engineering expertise to programs adopting agile and adaptive strategies, methods, environments, and tools, integrating software and system lifecycle activities and products.
- Support development of software architecture and engineering strategies and plans for satellites and associated ground, launch, and mission processing capabilities.
- Develop recommendations and evaluate plans for software-intensive systems modernization and migration, enabling successful change management at any point in the lifecycle.
- Research and develop methods to enable early analysis of software-intensive system architectures.
- Develop software architecture and life-cycle engineering methods for new and emerging software technologies.
- Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations to disseminate findings, guidance, and technical information to a wide audience
This role can be done in a hybrid mode, partially on site in Chantilly, VA or El Segundo, CA.
This position is available as a Software Lifecycle Engineer or a Senior Software Lifecycle Engineer
Minimum Requirements for Software Lifecycle Engineer / Engineering Specialist
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
- 8 or more years of proven experience in software engineering, with focused work in an area such as requirements and architecture, design and implementation, and/or integration and test
- Knowledge of the software lifecycle and technical experience in two or more lifecycle activities (requirements, architecture, design, coding and testing, integration and test, verification and validation, deployment, maintenance)
- Experience using modern software engineering approaches (e.g., Agile and DevSecOps), programming languages, and tools
- Ability to work both independently and as an effective collaborator on diverse teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
Minimum Requirements for Senior Software Lifecycle Engineer / Senior Engineering Specialist
- All of the above requirements for Software Architect/Engineer
- 12 or more years of professional experience in software development including use of modern approaches (e.g., Agile and DevSecOps) and a variety of programming languages and platforms
- 8 or more years of proven experience with government acquisition of software-reliant systems
- Experience with model-based system/software engineering methods, languages, and tools
- Software architecture and engineering research expertise
- Willingness to mentor junior staff to advance their technical and professional skills

- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical subject area
- Technical team leadership experience
- Experience in secure software development/secure coding
- Experience in the space/satellite systems domain
- Knowledge of digital engineering and related concepts, methods, and tools
We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$130,000 - $142,500 - $155,000
Pay Basis: Annual
