Software Manager - Protocol Infrastructure

This position is based in San Jose or Petaluma.

Calix is seeking an experienced Software Manager for Networking Protocol Infrastructure and Dataplane software product development in Intelligent Access Infrastructure software group. We are dramatically leapfrogging the competition with a new suite of products - we are hiring the best for our expanding customer base.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Lead the Protocol Software, Dataplane development and AXOS Infrastructure team to deliver on Intelligent Access Edge solutions.
• Drive the architecture, design and development of Protocol infrastructure and dataplane software for high end carrier access switching products for Internet infrastructure.
• Work with cross functional teams ranging from PON and Ethernet switching and routing software, subscriber management for Triple Play services, performance monitoring to network management to build, integrate, unit test and support software modules within a large-scale system.
• Co-ordinate and drive handling of customer issues and resolution to root-cause while working with cross-functional teams.
• Be active partner in hiring process to grow the team with right skills.
• Lead the team, provide timely and constructive performance feedback.
• Drive system scalability, interworking issues and drive root cause analysis of system issues.
• Mentor cross-functional engineers within the team.
• Keep abreast of the latest technologies within our product area.

Qualifications:

• Calix requires all employees based in North America who will work onsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel on behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Calix will consider requests for reasonable accommodations as required under applicable law.
• 12+ years working experience with embedded products with BS/MS in CS, CE or EE
• 4+ years of managing high performing teams with solid track record of delivering quality software.
• Strong skills in managing design and architectural decisions and right tradeoffs.
• Knowledge of Broadcom SDK, DNX, Jericho, VLANs and Ethernet switching is necessary
• Experience with IPv6, IPv4, MPLS Protocols NTP, DHCP, DNS is necessary.
• Experience with open source Linux embedded systems and x86 virtualization is necessary.
• Experience in programming in a multi-thread/multi-process environment is necessary
• Knowledge of Interface management, host management, loopback interfaces is strongly desired.
• Experience in areas such are high availability, facility protection, state replication, embedded database for check-pointing, Linux shared memory primitives, Route Forwarding Infrastructure and Logging Mechanisms is desired
• Experience of hands-on dataplane, driver, bring-up software development in large complex software systems is desired
• Excellent analytical, integration and debugging skills are necessary
• Excellent verbal and written communication and multitasking skills are expected
• High level of integrity and sense of urgency with strong focus on quality.
