Job Description

Position Details

The Project Manager will coordinate and manage various development projects through all phases of the development lifecycle including initiation, planning, execution, release and closing.

This position is focused on developing Rockwell's software products, including operator interfaces and module configuration tools which reside both on- premise and in the cloud. This includes coordinating the features being built by various teams, and integrating the software for testing and release. The job involves working extensively with System Test and the various certification agencies. There is a strong emphasis on stakeholder communications and decision making.

The Project Manager will manage stakeholder communications, project requirements, work breakdown, development engineering, testing and release. Project management responsibilities include scheduling and planning across multiple functional areas, coordinating internal and external development and test resources and working with resource managers and other project managers to insure proper staffing, project alignment and integration. The Project Manager will own the project responsibility for the definition and clear communication of project priorities, delivery of project expectations, and identifying and mitigating issues and risks among a cross-functional project team, all while representing the best interest of the business unit.

Rockwell uses industry standard development and planning tools such as Jira, Jama and Jira Align. Software is developed via agile development practices with continuous integration and testing. The project manager role in agile is to work with the various development scrum teams and trains to ensure that the features are developed and delivered per the needs of the business and that the proper release processes and documents are completed for the safety, security and quality of the products.

Project teams may consists of resources in global facilities. Working with an international team may be required on some projects. Also, some travel, including both domestic and international travel, may be required in order to meet with team members and facilitate project progress.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS and/or MBA desirable
• Advanced training or certifications in PMI/PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Business Administration, Management, Operations or Project Engineering is desirable.
• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in product or application development.
• Typically requires 2+ years of experience in a project management or project leadership role.
• Proven ability to lead multiple teams, partner with management and lead indirect resources.
• Demonstrated experience in leading project development efforts.
• Demonstrated experience in project planning, execution, risk management.
• Knowledge of project management processes and tools such as PMI model, scheduling software and configuration management tools.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of product certifications, such as 61508 functional safety, 62443 Security, UL, NEMA, CE, TUV, and other approval agencies, is a plus.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies, such as Agile methodologies like Scrum, XP or Kanban, is a plus.
• Similar industry experience such as technical knowledge in industrial controls, new product design, hardware/software, product testing, manufacturing and/or continuation & product life-cycle engineering, is a plus.
