Job Description

Waltz Health is looking for a software quality leader to drive a structured and scalable quality discipline across our software development efforts. Curiosity and a desire to learn will be critical to success in this role. As the software quality leader, you will work very closely with Waltz leaders to build a market-leading set of applications at the core of our marketplace platform.  You will also lead our partner resources to ensure they are developing applications in conformance with your technology direction, related processes, and critical performance indicators.

You will work closely with our entire technology and product management team to ensure we are establishing industry-leading software processes, technology selections, and development discipline to produce “industrial strength” software products. This role is ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful contribution to healthcare and wanting to be part of an exciting start-up journey.

You will:
  • Define and provide a framework for driving defect-free software, related data, and user experience across all Waltz development teams
  • Work with technology and business organizations to develop and lead the execution of a well-thought-out continuous end-to-end software quality program across internal and external development teams. End to end is defined as code development, deployment and production supportability.
  • Define, Measure and track compliance for a clear set of industry leading software quality metrics across all Waltz platforms and applications
  • Lead testing automation and drive a “shift left” mentality across all SW development efforts
  • Identify and be accountable to work with teams to proactively manage risk areas
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement 
In the first 90 days, you will:
  • Learn the Waltz platform and related applications
  • Develop an initial view of a quality program – with a baseline set of metrics to capture current status
  • Engage closely with technology and business stakeholders to ensure we have a consistent approach across all teams
You will be successful because you have these traits and skills:
  • 1-3 years of programming experience in Java , python, or any other compiled language
  • 5+ years of experience in a full-time software quality role
  • Deeply familiar with the SDLC lifecycle including agile models at scale
  • Expert with quality control gates – and related metrics
  • Deep familiarity with multi tier software architectures and related integration patterns
  • Deeply familiar with market leading testing solutions including unit/regression testing across multiple technology stacks
  • Extensive familiarity with modern DevOps and “lights out” supportability models
  • Deep understanding of test automation systems and techniques with intuition to identify potential risk areas
  • Experience guiding/leading direct and indirect resources preferred
  • Are enthusiastic, positive, and hardworking.
  • Are flexible with job roles and responsibilities – i.e. be willing to jump into new projects and have a scrappy start-up mentality.
  • Are a clear communicator who is comfortable working with all levels of the organization.
  • Thrive working independently, autonomously, and can adapt to changing needs of a growing company.
  • Are able to think effectively, critically and creatively.
  • Live in the Chicago (preferred) 
You have these qualifications:
  • Exposure to ETL testing
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, using Agile Tools and good exposure to CI/CD
  • Exposure and fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Bachelors (required)
  • Masters (preferred)
