Software Release Engineer

Position Description

Collaborates with business stakeholders to formulate release strategy. Harmonizes release strategy for feasibility with the development team and other stakeholders. Leads an agile SDLC. Develops and communicates metrics associated with planned releases. Focuses on developing a high performing team through servant leadership.

Responsibilities

● Scheduling, planning, and managing the development and delivery processes used to release

all Zayo software changes.

● Collaborate cross-functionally with the Engineering, Operations, and Security teams helping

coordinate all product development and delivery efforts.

● Overall, your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality releases on-time and on-budget.

● Contribute and influence delivery & deployment processes, that includes underlying tooling helping drive higher levels of efficiencies and cost savings.

● Support Zayo CI/CD pipelines.

● Track the progress and find issues, if any. Always work to improve the process of release.

● Participate in release validation before deployment and milestone reviews after each release.

● Maintain documentation related to procedures on build and release, various notifications lists, and dependencies.

● Effectively communicate technical issues and resolve problems at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.

● Must be comfortable in rapidly changing and sometimes ambiguous work situations. Keen attention to detail and complex problem-solving abilities from an operational and technical perspective.

Qualifications

● Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required, preferably in Computer Science.

● Five or more years of professional experience is required.

● Experience of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating systems.

Windows and Linux OSes

● Experience with containerization technologies. Docker

● Experienced with PowerShell, vbscript, Batch, Python, C#

● Experience with modern CI/CD based product development and delivery pipelines, Including

Azure DevOps

● Experience with Server and PC hardware configurations, including Windows Server Update

Services (WSUS)

● Experience with GIT based development

● Working Knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm.

● Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle

● Knowledge of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, and Kanban

● Experience and ability to work with team members in multiple geographical locations.

Base pay range: $78,750-105,000, commensurate with experience.
