Job Description

Job Title: Software Support Engineer/Developer (Boston, MA)
 
Duties: Deploys software to Production, Disaster Recovery (DR), and Quality Assurance environments. Implements messaging and streaming frameworks -- Tibco Rendezvous, Kafka, and RESTful services. Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system. Implements releases of software, provides front-line production support for software and data to all business user teams. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems related to applications. Collaborates with application development teams or third-party vendors using tools -- Gitlab, Docker, Aritfactory, Apache Subversion, and Confluence.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supports and performs all phases of production support and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes root cause of incidents (user created / system generated alerts) and leads to logical resolution.
  • Monitors scheduler failures across organization.
  • Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Software Support Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing incident management, problem management, and data analysis through major phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in Waterfall and Agile environments; Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Software Support Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing incident management, problem management, and data analysis through major phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in Waterfall and Agile environments. Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) providing maintenance and production support for In-House and Vendor applications; implementing, developing, configuring, and deploying applications using SQL Autosys, JIRA, Release Management (RLM), Linux, and UNIX Shell script; collaborating with stakeholders on incident and problem resolutions; and providing front-line software and data production support to business user teams (Operations, Portfolio Managers, Compliance, and Traders) using Service Now, JIRA, MS Office, and MS Visio; DE identifying, researching, and resolving technical application problems, using Eclipse, JAVA J2EE, Apache Subversion, and Oracle SQL Developer; troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis to resolve user created and system generated incidents, using Service Now, Confluence SQL, Putty, and WinScp; and monitoring alerts for jobs and batch failures and resolving failures using Autosys, Putty, Splunk, Linux and UNIX; DE resolving Scheduler Failures using SQL, JAVA J2EE, and XML; and building and maintaining a knowledge base for trading and investment applications, using Service Now, JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint; DE managing source code repositories, the ongoing configuration, and data across all environments using relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server), data loading mechanisms, and reporting; developing applications using SQL, Shell scripting (bash), XML, and Java J2EE; and performing PL/ SQL and SQL analysis (update/ insert/ delete) to resolve data issues.
