About Our Team
The Material, Physical, and Chemical Sciences Center provides materials expertise and innovation to enable Sandia success in national security missions. Center 1800 staff are at the forefront, with expertise that includes design and synthesis of new materials for specific functionality, developing and prototyping manufacturing processes, applying a deep understanding of materials' reliability and failure mechanisms, resolving issues that arise in materials applications, and developing the theoretical and computational insights that enable better life cycle predictivity of materials performance. Materials of interest to us and our customers include, organic materials and composites, glasses and structural and electronic ceramics, and structural metals and metallurgical joining processes such as welding, brazing, and soldering. We maintain and apply our innovative materials characterization tools to benefit all Sandia programs. Center 1800 leads Sandia's Materials Research Foundation, ensuring that the R&D performed sustains and grows our expertise for the laboratory.

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. If so, you may be the highly motivated Software Systems Engineer we seek to join our team!
On any given day, you may be called upon to:
- Develop, deliver, and support strategic IT safety and business solutions used to meet corporate polices
- Use expertise to manage and maintain complex data management constructs
- Communicate IT solutions across all levels of staff and management
- Communicate and team with ES&H coordinators and lab personnel, ensuring requirements and document control criteria are met
- Collaborate with ES&H Coordinators, SMEs, and 1800 managers to understand and ensure WP&C requirements are integrated into IT workflow processes.
- Establish and manage workflow tracking for document approvals
- Participate and/or lead the researching, designing, and prototyping of IT solutions
- Evaluate, test, analyze and implement functional tools for information system solutions
- Plan, design, and implement the architecture of new features for existing systems
- Prioritize shifting work assignments, demonstrate ability to support a complex collaborative environment, and display a flexible approach to unique challenges
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 1 or more years' of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and proven experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft InfoPath
- Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-Level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Knowledge of work planning and controls and other safety related business practices at Sandia
- Proficiency of Microsoft Suite Tools
- Understanding of web-based and computing architectures
- Experience defining and implementing development, test, release, update, and support processes across multiple organizations
- Experience using version control tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of archival methodologies and Sandia Records Management policies
- Experience in designing and delivering records management training to personnel
- Experience in implementing and improving end-to-end processes
- Experience deploying system updates, identifying and fixing software issues, and using complex software applications and managing libraries
- Ability to communicate and implement IT solutions to all levels in a complex organization, including senior management
- Ability to provide data or analysis for internal reporting requirements
- Ability to problem tackle and recommend solutions
- Ability to cross reference data sets and fix discrepancies
- Experience with EIMS FileNet and Training and Employee Development System (TEDS)
- A consistent record of strong performance
- Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team setting for a common purpose
