We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Systems Engineering Lead to join our team with JETS II.

What you'll do all day:

  • Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors
  • Perform duties as the Software Engineering Deputy Section Manager & Deputy Task Order Manager
  • Interface with NASA Software Engineering Leads
  • Interface with Software Engineering oversight teams
  • Review and advise Software Engineering oversight efforts
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination skills
  • Work in a fast-paced, Agile environment
  • Collaborate with the software development team
  • Provide temporary software engineering surge support
  • Promote a culture of caring and safety both at work and away from work
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and possess 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Experience in Safety Critical Human-Rated Software Development
  • Experience leading a software development project across the full development life cycle
  • Experience in risk assessment and implementation of risk reducing measures
  • Experience fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency with team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Skype, Sharepoint, Jira
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Ability to prepare written documents/presentations and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Must have strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Able to oversee a team of professionals working on multiple small and large projects concurrently
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude
  • Effectively communicate across a wide range of technical disciplines, with vendors/contractors, direct customers, and upper management
  • US Citizenship is required for all applicants

Desired skills and experience for this position:

  • Experience with NASA NPR 7150.2 or DO178C
  • Experience with NASA Safety Standards and requirements, NASA-STD-8739.8, that drive the processes for Safety Critical Software Development
  • Previous Task Order Management experience
  • System and software configuration management
  • System tuning and performance analysis
  • System requirements analysis
  • Software Development Life Cycle familiarity
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation
  • Experience with Core Flight System (cFS) Applications (or similar flight software - framework)
  • Experience with Time Triggered Ethernet (or similar protocols such as ARINC 664)
  • Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop avionic systems
  • Experience with Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) for Distributed Avionics
  • Architectures - Experience with Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)
