Software Team Lead

We are looking for an experienced Software Team Lead to join the Cato team. In this critical role, you will lead a talented team of software engineers, addressing architectural and engineering challenges. You will develop highly scalable solutions and manage common capabilities for multiple services and domains, collaborating closely with peer Team Leaders, Product Managers, and Automation teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and nurture an excellent team through recruitment, mentoring, and daily management.
• Oversee end-to-end development, from processing large-scale data to creating web interfaces.
• Conduct ongoing research and prototype new features and product ideas.
• Develop, Implement and test enterprise platform solutions.
• Explore and integrate new technologies into the company’s products.
• Collaborate with multiple development teams.

Technology Stack:

• Java, Spring Boot
• AWS (SQS, KMS, DocDB, S3), Microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• Golang, TypeScript, React

Requirements:

• Leadership Experience: 2+ years of leading a successful development team with a proven ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
• Technical Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on web development experience, focusing on backend development using Java, API architecture, DB design, and event-driven systems.
• Methodologies: Experience with Scrum, Kanban, and Squads, and the ability to integrate and optimize these frameworks within our development processes.
• SaaS Experience: Proven experience in building and operating high-scale SaaS microservices on AWS.
• Technical Skills: Ability to architect, design, and develop complex web applications.
• Educational Background: A solid foundation in software engineering, supported by a BSc or BA in Computer Science or equivalent qualification.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate positioning and requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with local and remote teams and team members in different time zones
• Personal Attributes: Motivated, fast learner, independent, and a strong problem-solving leader

Dev Lifecycle:

You’ll receive spec definitions from Product Management, you’ll review the spec and work on a suitable design, and once ready you’ll conduct a Design Review meeting.

Having the design approved, you’ll write great code, build and deploy your artifact to k8s, and test it.

You’ll make sure the feature can be monitored, having metrics and alerts defined.

The development group:

Out of Band Security Group:
This group provides security & visibility for SaaS applications being used by organizations (i.e. used by Cato’s customers).
We are doing it by integrating with these 3rd party vendors ( like Salesforce, Slack, ServiceNow, Dropbox etc.) using their public APIs, fetching data on various activities (sign-ins, sharing, exporting etc.) and bringing it into Cato platform, enforcing relevant security policy in supported apps.
We’re expanding our capabilities by designing & building an infrastructure that will allow us to accommodate a large scale of applications and support additional use cases brought up by Cato’s product team.

This position is based in Prague, Czech Republic, with a hybrid work model.
