Software Technical Lead

Job Description
Orbis is seeking a Software Technical Lead to support the integration of Orbis products into client enterprise architectures. In this role, you will provide oversight to developers and demonstrate technical, functional, and process expertise to help our teams deliver effective, enterprise solutions to clients across multiple projects and industry domains.

This is a technical leadership role within our professional services group. As a technical leader in this space you will:

• Provide mentoring to developers and inputs to project managers:
  • Assist in the estimation of efforts for various epics, stories and tasks in an Agile development process.
  • Review code and approve merge requests.
  • Enforce coding standards, naming conventions, and sound documentation commenting practices as a part of the coding process.
  • Pro-actively make recommendations on how to improve product quality as well as group productivity. Work with project managers and other leaders to come up with solutions to problems that arise.
  • Lead initiatives to design and deliver end-to-end, multi-tiered enterprise solutions around Orbis CMS and specialty analytical products.
  • Work with clients, internal development teams, and senior management to:
    • create and maintain enterprise solution design architecture artifacts
    • identify infrastructure and deployment requirements.
    • develop approaches to deploy and integrate Orbis products and solutions into client enterprise environments.
    • configure complex software implementations with customized criteria tailored to specific customer's environment.
    • develop requirements, technical direction system development, improvements, optimizations, or project support efforts.
• Identify technology risks, innovation opportunities and assess the impact of changes to applications and systems.
• Work with sales team to develop sales documents and presentations to prospective and existing clients.

Experience and Skills

• U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor of science in computer engineering, computer information systems, computer science, engineering, or software engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant software development, systems implementation consulting, across multiple technology platforms.
• Experience building and designing solutions for large enterprises such as implementations around Open Architecture, failover, replication, security, horizonal scaling and distributed architectures.
• Experience in Java, web application development, REST services, NoSQL database structures and XML technologies.
• Experience with modern build and code management tooling such as Jenkins, Artifactory, Gradle, and/or Maven Git.
  • Understanding of release management best practices.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Results-oriented, practical and creative problem solver.
