Job Description
Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.
We are looking for a high-caliber software technical program manager to manage the cloud and services infrastructure with high complexity and broad scope. You will work across functions to build and/or integrate with third party systems to launch software that meets Mill’s business needs, including but not limited to cloud infrastructure, automation, data pipelines, email infrastructure etc. This is a great opportunity to join an incredible, high-performing team, and exhibit strong leadership and judgment as Mill navigates its first product offering!
Responsibilities
As Mill’s Software Technical Program Manager, Cloud & Services infrastructure, you will:
- Lead cross-functionally to define requirements, plan schedules, resources, and integration plans
- Work with the engineering team to determine feasibility, prioritization, detailed timelines, run sprints, identify risks, and drive mitigation plans
- Manage features dependant on new data pipelines
- Interface with the business team on data and reporting needs for partnerships, manage reports and dashboards
- Clearly communicate program status and feature plans to stakeholders, and prioritize initiatives
- Use technical judgment to challenge proposals and build consensus
- Build out scalable processes and frameworks leveraged by multiple cross-functional teams
- Maintain the team's focus on goal-oriented results in a fast paced startup environment with many moving parts
- Champion customer and stakeholder needs throughout program execution, ensuring that what is delivered meets the OKRs while surfacing status and learnings with leaders across the company.
Qualifications:
- Strong program management experience (7+ years) delivering cloud and services infrastructure projects from inception, delivery, and post launch.
- Deep understanding of data quality e.g. data gaps, caveats arising from source, hygiene, retention, etc. Ability to speak to nuances without engineers present, but staying in close sync with engineering.
- Basic SQL query ability is required along with some basic data science understanding to split out real issues vs edge cases.
- Privacy experience is a bonus.
- Technical background such as software engineering, systems engineering, analytics is a huge bonus
- Ability to identify user needs, translate into requirements, organize, plan, and execute for business success.
- Ability to operate autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products.
- Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $150k to $185k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
