Job Description

Come create the technology that helps the world act together

Nokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed, and cloud networks. Your career here will have a positive impact on people's lives and will help us build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive world.

We challenge ourselves to create an inclusive way of working where we are open to new ideas, empowered to take risks, and fearless to bring our authentic selves to work.

The team you'll be part of

As Nokia's growth engine, we create value for communication service providers and enterprise customers by leading the transition to cloud-native software and as-a-service delivery models. Our inclusive team of dreamers, doers, and disruptors pushes the limits from impossible to possible.

You will be part of the Mobile Gateway (MG) organization within the Cloud and Network Services (CNS) Core Networks group. The MG team delivers packet core solutions for multiple access evolutions, including 3G, 4G, and 5G. The MG team supports multiple products including the 5G SMF/UPF and NRF functions; along with the 4G PGW/GGSN, SGW, ePDG, TWAG, and SSG functions. The MG products are deployed across multiple hardware and cloud platform options.

Your role is in the test team, working on complex problems to qualify the MG application across various platforms.

What you will learn and contribute to

Are you passionate about solving problems?

As part of our team, you will:

  • Develop, modify and execute software test plans
  • Support, lead, develop, partner, and implement automation strategies for large and small features
  • Design, develop, script, execute, and maintain sophisticated tests to verify conformance of features and their functionality implemented by Engineering against requirements specifications laid out by Product Management
  • Be responsible for driving features to completion (ready for GA release) and will therefore be in close contact with software developers, test engineers, tools engineers, product managers, technical documentation writers, and support teams to deliver feature functionality in the MG product
  • Play a role in system design so that Quality Assurance is considered throughout the entire lifecycle of the product
  • Follow all Nokia Information Security policies and guidelines including ISMS (ISO27001 program).

Your skills and experience

You have:

  • Experience with test automation and scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Ksh/Bash
  • Knowledge of and experience with 3GPP standards (UMTS, LTE, 5G)
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as IPv6/IPv4 and TCP and troubleshooting

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience with packet core network elements, such as PGW, SGW, SMF, and E2E call flows for 4G and 5G
  • Experience with NFV (Network Function Virtualization) and related technologies such as Kubernetes, Openstack, VMware, KVM/QEMU
  • Experience with test strategy planning and execution
  • Experience with network monitoring tools, such as Wireshark, to analyze messages transmitted and received
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, or Bachelor's degree with 5 year's experience in a related networking field
