Position Summary:

Illumina's Clinical Genomics business unit is searching for a software test engineer to join its laboratory services software team. As a skilled software test engineer, you will focus on the testing and maintenance of a comprehensive system of services and databases used to manage/enforce workflows for high-volume, mission critical laboratory operations. This position requires a figure who thrives on collaboration that understands the importance of teamwork, with a strong sense of ownership.

Responsibilities:

  • This position will require the candidate to perform system and client application testing using both manual and automated testing methods
  • The successful candidate will display a strong sense of ownership and initiative with a careful attention to detail
  • Test Design , Test Execution and Test Reporting for distributed, service-based systems
  • Document Test Cases and Reports as per Illumina's Quality department's guideline in QMS.
  • Develop and execute automated functional tests
  • Assist software developers and domain experts in designing, performing, and improving verification tests
  • Provide technical assistance to escalated production issues.
  • Work with scientists, technicians, engineers, and project management to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with other members of the Software Test team in a very fast-paced environment

Requirements:

  • B.S. in a Computer Science, Bioinformatics , Biomedical, or engineering related area is preferred.
  • 4+ year development experience in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Java, C#, JavaScript
  • 4+ year experience working in Software Quality Assurance and/or other areas of the SDLC to test complex applications, both front and back end
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL on any Database.
  • Experience authoring automated tests using frameworks/tools, such as Selenium. Test NG and Rest Assured.
  • Familiarity of the underlying architecture of multi-tiered browser-based applications, including HTML, JavaScript, operating systems, networking, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, and web browsers.
  • Familiarity with web services and cloud testing

Preferred Requirements:

  • Understanding of Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field of biology
  • Experience in performance testing, usability testing, and security testing
  • Have good understanding of "DevOps" culture
  • Experience working with databases, such as SQL, MySQL or Postgres
  • Possess proven troubleshooting skills
  • Be curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly
  • Be customer-focused, team-oriented, and motivated, taking ownership of assigned tasks
  • Have proven ability to self-manage, as well as manage interdisciplinary relationships
  • Have proven verbal and written communication skills

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $86,500 - $129,700. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
