Software Test Engineer
Job Description
This role has been designated as Hybrid work schedule and will be based out of our St. Paul, MN location. Flexible work-from-home options are available.
We are looking for a motivated software test professional who has the desire to continue to learn, grow, and drive forward quality standards across our products. This person will work in a highly collaborative, scaled agile culture.
We are currently hiring for a Software Test Engineer to join our Commercial HVAC controls team supporting Building Performanceâ„¢, which is an HVAC building management software package. This position is primarily responsible for preparing, conducting, and reporting on the manual and automated testing of web-based software of TraneConnect System products under development, as directed. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is in the process of revamping our technology and the person in this role will help us shape the direction of our processes, tools, and technology.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and implement a variety of manual test cases including acceptance, functional, and regression tests.
- Develop, execute, and maintain automated test cases following company and industry best practices and standards
- Actively participate in Scaled Agile Scrum team process with other team members
- Perform test reviews for other test engineers.
- Develop project test strategies, plans, and maintain automation test data
- Develop and continuously improve automated tests as new system features and enhancements are developed.
- Execute automated tests and manage the resulting defect log through the point of defect fix validation.
- Apply industry best practices and team standards to all test development and execution.
- Ensure the appropriate test environments and infrastructures are in place and kept up to date.
- Identify and report to product teams' questionable functions, performance concerns, and inconsistencies.
- Assist in the identification, selection, and implementation of tools, technologies, and processes.
- Provide technical guidance to team members.
- Collaborate with extended team to build and enhancement automated test tools and frameworks.
- Conduct security testing as directed by Security Architect.
- Estimate effort and timing for manual and automation development tasks.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, Json.
- Experience working with offshore teams.
- Experience with Git, Gitlab, and SVN.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred. (Engineering or Computer Science preferred) and 3+ years software testing experience, with minimum of 2+ years of automated hands-on testing experience.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly triage and escalate issues.
- Experience testing in Cloud / AWS environments.
- Experience working in SQL environments.
- Experience creating and executing API, GUI Automation Testing for web and mobile applications.
- Experience integrating automated testing into the software build process.
- Experience in working with acceptance test-driven development (ATDD), automated unit testing (AUT), and behavior-driven development (BDD).
- Passion for quality, learning, and personal growth.
- Strong level of ownership, accountability, and ability to prioritize work tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate would also be familiar with one or more of the following:
- Experience with creating, updating, and executing automated test cases using Robot, Selenium, Nightwatch.js, Cypress, or similar testing tools (Java preferred but other programming languages will be considered).
- Exposure to API Testing, including tools such as Postman, Karate, or similar.
- Experience with Jenkins.
- Strong database query skills using Postgres, Vertica, SQL Server, or similar technology.
- Building industry, facilities management, HVAC equipment, and/or BAS knowledge.
Base Compensation Range is $55,000 to $113,000
