You are part of:

The Sleep and Home Respiratory Care Research and Development group, based in PA, which is responsible for the research, development, testing and production support of products for CPAP sleep apnea devices, invasive and non-invasive lung ventilation and other aspects of respiratory care in hospital, skilled care facilities and home environment. The new product development projects usually take 2 to 3 years and contain software, mechanical and electromechanical hardware and electronics. Product lifecycles typically exceed 5 years and require ongoing support throughout the lifecycle. Sleep and Home Respiratory Care is a global business with main sites in all markets around the world.

Primary Role:
  • Develops, reviews, and validates high quality automated test cases and scripts in accordance with applicable quality standards.
  • Supports and develops automated test platforms and generates reports according to quality procedures.
  • Reports into Scaled Agile team with feature scope
  • Reviews software code and identifies improvements to reduce non-conformance to requirements and potential quality issues.
  • Maintains independence of software testing with the SCRUM team.


Knowledge and Critical Experiences:
  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 1+ years of relevant software test engineering experience in a regulated environment, medical/bio preferred
  • Proven knowledge of industry accepted software engineering practices
  • Minimum of 2 years programming with object oriented C/C++/C#, or equivalent scripting languages or relevant experience/equivalent education.
  • Strong ability to interpret requirements and develop automated test scenarios with minimal guidance, optimizing for execution efficiency and platform constraints
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience reviewing product software code, providing critical feedback to improve quality and efficiency
  • Analytical skills; Strong ability to decompose software code into design to understand function, flow, and design intent.
  • Experience working with software configuration management tools, ideally GIT.
  • Experience with Lean/ Agile development, preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate across and within teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Jira and Agile process is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of test management tools and frameworks (ALM, DOORS)
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and test procedure development.
  • Knowledge of testing methods for embedded systems. (On target white box testing)


Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Operates within integrated Agile SCRUM team consisting of software development and test engineers.
  • Defines and reviews test cases and scenarios for Agile feature development under guidance from Software in Test Engineer.
  • Develops, reviews, and validates unit, integration and system level test scripts in C++ and C# utilizing standardized automated test frameworks when possible.
  • Generates manual test procedures as directed by a Software Engineer in Test.
  • Responsible for verification of feature scope, providing independent verification and confirmation of completion.
  • Identifies defects within product software and collaborates with software development engineering, providing relevant information to aid resolution.
  • Generates manual and automated test reports in compliance with quality standards
  • Develops and maintains automated test environments as part of Agile SCRUM team.
  • Reviews software code and provides feedback to improve quality and efficiency of code.
  • Offers alternative solutions to improve quality, cost, and reduce complexity.
  • Stays up-to-date on the relevant technology domain. Enjoys self-learning and brings new technical practices and innovations to the team.
  • Provides feedback into software development process model.
  • Supports lean I2M efforts to reduce time to market and increase quality of our products.
  • Assists with collection and reporting of software quality metrics for SCRUM team.
  • Aware of multimodal communication formats used in dynamic environments including virtual formats.

  • Timely delivery of software through Agile predictability (Time to Market)


  • Improve project execution efficiency and quality from standardized automated testing and efficient manual testing


  • Reduce cost of non quality through effective test strategy

Position Placement:
  • Reports into Embedded Software and Test Engineering Manager and is part of an embedded software and test organization
