About the Role

We are seeking a self-motivated multi-disciplinary manufacturing test software engineer to support the implementation of manufacturing test solutions. In this role, your contributions will ensure that Skydio’s products are defect free, exceed quality requirements, and function reliably for our customers.

How you'll make an impact:

You’ll play a key role on the Manufacturing Test Engineering team to enable the manufacture of drones designed by Skydio. You shall develop automated manufacturing tests and diagnostic software that assures the calibration, performance, and safety of our drones. The position will require close collaboration with product development teams, systems analysts, manufacturing test engineers, manufacturing engineers, software, and quality engineers to build a comprehensive test strategy and deliver automated manufacturing test software.

  • Take ownership of manufacturing test stations, software development, and test station quality
  • Collaborate with manufacturing software teams to continually improve and upgrade backend support
  • Develop deep technical understanding of manufacturing operations, process and test flows which shall feed into manufacturing test software development
  • Design, document, and qualify test systems and software for use in manufacturing current and new generation of drones
  • Work independently to overcome roadblocks with minimum guidance 
  • Self-prioritize and troubleshoot production line issues with urgency
  • Continually improve test capability through new technology, software and analytics

What makes you a good fit: 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in hardware-focussed software development
  • 5+ years of programming experience writing clean, extensible, and maintainable code
  • Proficient in Python software development
  • Ability to analyze data to investigate test failures, assess design gaps, show process capability and equipment reliability (JMP/MiniTab/Matlab)
  • Expertise in communication interface protocols - UART, USB, I2C, GPIB, RS-232
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Comfortable working on Linux OS, and simple bash terminal commands
  • Ability to supplement engineering work with technical documentation

Compensation Range:

  • The annual base salary range for this position (spanning multiple experience levels) is $140,000 - 185,000*.  Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.

          *For some positions the pay may be dependent upon the individual's regional location.
