Your Responsibilities
As a Software Test Engineer for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group in Torrance, CA you will provide Software Engineering Test & Validation of John Deere's line of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. Specific areas include validation of advanced navigation algorithms, baseband performance and configuration for all GNSS receiver testing. In addition, you will:
- Work with Software Engineering to define Test setup and metrics, standardize test plans, and data analysis tools.
- Coordinate and review test results from team member tasks, which includes periodic bug review meetings to ensure software development and program/product management understand issues clearly.
- Provide daily assistance and guidance for team on scheduled tasks/bugs, which may involve working with non-technical team members to understand customer facing issues.
- Diagnose and solve software defects.
- Understand Global Positioning System concepts and fundamentals through directed work assignments and training material for self and fellow team members.
- Direct technical contribution through engineering validation, test plan creation and tool development and simulator testing.
- Analyze issues in a systematic, persistent, and thorough manner.

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)
- 1 or more year(s) in GNSS StarFire Receiver testing, GPS and test plan development.
- 1 or more year(s) of experience with software development life cycle.
- 1 or more year(s) of experience in test plan creation, test execution, and reporting/tracking GNSS related software defects
- 1 or more year(s) of professional experience developing software or tools with Python and C++
- Experience working in a team environment with cross-functional teams
- Strong software analytical skills; problem solving and conveying complex features/issues to engineers in other disciplines
- Must have strong reporting/presentation skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft Project and Team Foundation Server (TFS)
- Experience with Agile Development Methodology
What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)
- GNSS Software test validation experience with John Deere StarFire Receivers
- Professional experience with Matlab, C, or other programming languages
- Demonstrated leadership with leading test efforts on software features
- Experience in Validation & Verification Testing of Requirements, System and Regression Level Testing, Test Report Preparation, and Software Test Estimation
- Basic networking knowledge
- Strong Experience in Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
