We have an outstanding opportunity for a Solution Architect to join the Alliant Energy team in Cedar Rapids, IA or Madison, WI.

In this role you are responsible to understand the desired outcomes and requirements of the business and translates those into technology solutions, serving as a liaison between technical teams and management. Designs and develops IT architecture (integrated processes, applications, data, and technologies) solutions for new products/services, applications and service offerings to support current software/platforms and Alliant's IT transformation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop, refine, optimize, and support the solution architecture as required to meet the business needs and non-functional requirements.
• Understands architectural frameworks and relationships between IT systems and business processes.
• Delivers roadmaps specific to domain focus and can translate at an engineering and business level,
• Develops architecture to include the collaboration with other architects to make recommendations on software, hardware, and communications to support the product vision as well as provide for present and future multi-functional significant architecture requirements and interfaces based on solution and program increment roadmaps
• Ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with client IT standards for architecture, including the implementation of specific solutions for public or private cloud platforms, integration with other systems and the external interfaces
• Engage with others to understand required capabilities, data flows, integrations, and dependencies, integrating business knowledge with technical solutions.
• Partner to determine the most appropriate technical strategy and designs to meet business needs.
• Investigate technology to support the project requirements and perform a POC to demonstrate the applicability of the technology.
• Be able to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges. Assess the compatibility and integration of products and services proposed to ensure a robust integrated architecture across the interdependent applications.

Required qualifications:

• 10+ years of work experience in IT, to include; 5 years in software development or application architecture, and 5 years of experience in solution architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area.
• Knowledge of the utility industry and its regulatory environment.
• Experience with driving technical planning and solutions for software portfolio, including authoring or managing the development of software designs, managing vendor evaluations, and justifying technical recommendations.
• Experience defining a variety of solution types, such as new system builds, legacy improvements, build vs. buy analysis, integrating COTS software packages, Software as a Service or Platform as a Service as components of the solution

Specifically, demonstrated experience with the following:

• Integration systems, data transfer approaches, analytics.
• TOGAF methodology.
• Good understanding of design patterns and object-oriented analysis and design.
• Modeling/diagramming tools.
• Translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Cloud technologies.
• Development using containerization technologies such as Docker, K8s.
