Solution Architect

Location: Richmond, VA - local candidates preferred
Position Type: Hybrid - Onsite 3-4 days per week for first 3 months, then once a quarter
Contract Length: 6 months, extension possible
Position Overview:
This role requires hands-on expertise in creating architectural designs, collaborating with Agile/Scrum teams, and providing strategic consultation for cross-functional enterprise initiatives. Local candidates are strongly preferred due to initial onsite requirements in Richmond, VA, transitioning to a hybrid or remote work posture after the probationary period.
Duties:

• Create overall application and solution architectures, component designs, and systems integration and implementations for a particular business solution.
• Lead efforts in defining, documenting and estimating the following for enterprise applications.
• Capture requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, on- prem, hybrid and cloud topologies, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, system inputs and output.
• Collaborate with other IT staff to assess business needs and requirements and translate them into automated solutions
• Produce relevant solution design artifacts including but not limited to technical estimates, conceptual, logical and physical system designs, sequence diagrams, and data models
• Coordinate new system development to ensure it is consistent and well integrated with existing application systems and COTS solutions
• Analyze and estimate feasibility and compatibility with hardware and other programs; and will consult with clients to prototype, architect, and design applications to meet needs.
• Collaborate with Business areas and cross- functional Enterprise Architects to fully understand business needs and provide strategic consultation
• Partner with architects, other technical team members and to develop roadmaps and strategies to support agency KPIs
• Design/Implement Enterprise Security/technology Patterns
• Consult with teams as needed on initiatives and provide tactical direction as well as provide architecture considerations on legacy solutions

Required Skills:

• 5 years of experience in enterprise-level application design and integration
• 5 years of experience in cloud applications (Azure Preferred)
• 5 years of experience in SaaS (Software as a Service) architecture
• 5 years of experience with integration architecture
• 5 years of experience with Agile methodologies (SAFe and Scrum)
• 2 years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform
• 2 years of experience with Esri ArcGIS preferred
