Solution Architect - Infrastructure
Job Description:
Primary Purpose of Role:
The Solution Architect (SA) for Infrastructure compute will provide leadership, analysis and design of tasks related to the development and management of a portfolio of IT solutions. These actions support the enterprise architecture by development of technology solutions that meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. Key for this role is the understanding of the concepts of business goals, business objectives, business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes and their importance in solution architecture. They create deliverables for managing the organization's portfolio of current state and future state solutions. The SA for Infrastructure compute will be responsible for solutions that include but may not be limited to public and private cloud services, virtualized compute, enterprise storage, backup and recovery, and infrastructure management and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates and documents solution designs and analysis based on the translation of business and technical requirements
- Works directly on, or very closely with, Product teams to ensure support of business requirements throughout the Product's lifecycle
- Monitors current solutions to ensure continual alignment with business value over time
- Responsible for the overall product/service lifecycle and end of life decisions to ensure technology refreshes are completed to reduce risk to the business.
- Leads evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of solutions across technologies within the enterprise architecture governance structure
- Performs or oversees the role of the solution architect for assigned Product &/or Project teams.
- Actively participants in the architecture governance processes to ensure adherence to standards, principles, guidelines, and solution patterns
- Actively participates in the development and socialization of strategic road maps for infrastructure and technology services
- Actively participates in the identification of opportunities and/or gaps that exist between current state and the target architecture, and establish plans, including level of effort, cost, duration, and risks to closing the gaps and/or capitalizing on the opportunities identified
- Develop and maintain current and future state architecture models and roadmaps for Compute related technology and services.
- Provide deep technical knowledge and support on an as needed basis for IT operations staff.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering) or 7-10 years of equivalent experience in an IT technology field.
- 5+ years of experience in information technology solutions with industry certifications or training relative to key technology areas - VMWare, Azure, Pure Storage, etc
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
- Demonstrated skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
- Documented experience leading technical teams and projects deploying enterprise level technology solutions.
- Demonstrated experience as a technical resource on a Product and/or Project team
- Experience working with IT service providers in an outsourced model. (e.g. technology implementers, service providers, software development teams, integration partners etc.) to implement significant technology/capability change.
- Experience with industry best practices and frameworks, such as but not limited to NIST, COBIT, ITIL, TOGAF, PMI, etc
- Practiced in methods related to IT department capabilities (Project Management, Business Relationship Management, Security, IT Operations, etc.).
- Experience in participating and/or support project execution/solution delivery in various implementation approaches (e.g. Waterfall, Iterative, Agile/SCRUM, etc.).
