Role Summary

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to innovate, win, and grow with us!

Position Summary:

The Solution Architect (SA) is a key member of multiple project teams who will work with Bottomline’s strategic banking and financial institution designing and delivering high-quality transaction banking solutions to clients. This position must exhibit domain expertise while facilitating architectural requirement gathering sessions with customers; including integrations, data mapping, and NFRs such as system performance, audit and data archive/purge.
The SA must apply deep product knowledge to create effective solution architecture designs within the capabilities of Bottomline’s transaction banking platform, WebSeries. Throughout the development and testing, the SA will serve as a key reference point on customer architecture requirements. The SA will work with the client creating, reviewing or internalizing requirements and conducting gap analysis between the client’s requirements and Bottomline’s capabilities. This position will participate fully in change management discussions, identifying the impact or requirement changes on solution design and assisting with managing the impact of changes in solution design to downstream activities. This role also has a strong emphasis on improving internal processes and bringing client feedback into the product roadmap.

The SA will design solutions by creating integration specifications, System Architecture Documents (SAD), and other artifacts as necessary. You will work closely with the clients to suggest alternative workflows to minimize required customization and maximize the use of the WebSeries standard product framework as well as work with the Business Analysis team to ensure the overall client solution is aligned with the architecture approach.
Essential Job Functions:

• 8+ years Solution Architect experience in the financial services sector, with specific domain expertise in any one of the following areas: corporate cash management, payables, receivables, liquidity management, retail banking, SWIFT, securities and investments.
• 3+ years’ experience as a manager of people and groups – demonstrated ability to achieve results through influence and presence, independent of organizational hierarchy.
• Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills using the MS Office suite (emails, documents, presentations, Visio), with attention to detail a fundamental requirement.
• Strong facilitation skills, required to challenge customer “requirements” and guide client behavior.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and team player.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with client senior-level technology management.
• Proven problem solving skills; pushes creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindsets.
• Deep understanding of software development lifecycle and technology, with specific expertise in the following:
• Design of transaction-intensive web-based applications using the J2EE framework.
• Java, JavaScript, Ajax, Dojo, and the latest J2EE architecture best practices.
• Knowledge of specific application server environments such as WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat.
• Detailed understanding of the design and deployment of SOA-based solutions.
• Data model design for enterprise relational databases such as Oracle/SQL Server/DB2. Oracle knowledge is preferred.
• Best practices for systems integration, with fluency in both real-time and batch synchronous/asynchronous approaches to integrating disparate complex systems.
• Although the role is not a development/coding role, the ability to think through solutions “at the code level” is highly desirable.
• Ability to travel 25%, including internationally if possible.

Education and Experience:

BA/BS in a technical field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree (MA/MSc) or relevant technical certifications strongly preferred.
