Salary Range

$99,700 - $196,100
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

We are seeking a highly motivated Solutions Architect to serve as an engineer and primary architect for a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering novel, high-impact information systems to internal and external partners. The successful candidate will design and implement solutions in the areas of cloud computing, security architecture, network engineering and software architecture. They will develop sophisticated solutions to intricate problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Implement knowledge of virtual infrastructure technologies, including virtualization, containerization, and applications in cloud architectures
  • Implement Knowledge of Information Assurance policies and practices
  • Contribute in a collaborative team environment
  • Display strong customer service ethic
The selected candidate will need the ability to travel occasionally, as well as provide after-hours support to customers when called.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's and Master's degree in a relevant STEM field; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • You possess experience in configuration, installation, maintenance, and administration in at least two of the following:
    • Linux servers
    • Virtualized environments
    • Storage systems
    • System networking
    • Infrastructure Deployments (Hardware)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test


Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with VMware applications, including ESXi and VSphere, and handling virtual environments (hardware and software)
  • Experience in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Ruby)
  • Experience with programming languages (C/C++, Java, etc.)
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Experience with DevOps
  • Experience with Cisco Network Devices (Switches, Firewalls)
  • Experience with project planning, cost estimation, and managing scope, risk, and schedule
  • Ambitious and collaborative with good arbitration and communication skills
  • Experience with COTS make/buy decisions
  • Experience with understanding, documenting, and supporting cyber security controls.
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering disciplines particularly requirements
  • Experience with system development lifecycle
  • Software defined platforms and configuration management
  • Experience with both small- and large-scale satellite ground systems

We are a multidisciplinary engineering team specializing in the capture, dissemination, and processing of satellite data for operational and experimental systems. We have a world-wide network of ground-based processing systems at our disposal and our on-site ground system is leveraged to test new research methods and products prior to customer delivery. Skills and responsibilities within the department include Radio Frequency (RF) engineering, antenna engineering, electronic and mechanical systems, software development - applications and infrastructure, data handling and analysis, device interfaces and control, computing infrastructure management and security, data visualization, and operational systems management.

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
