Job Summary
The Solutions Architect provides architectural leadership on multiple business technologies, complex solutions, and projects. This role will strategize with business and technology stakeholders to define future-state business capabilities. The role will also develop and promote technology-ecosystem roadmaps to modernize and enhance the solutions enabling finance, financial operations, accounting, tax, treasury, financial planning and analysis, and financial reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business partners to understand business needs and establish a technical vision for the application set supporting their business partners
- Own and be responsible for a cohesive technology landscape of the finance insurance business domain
- Research current and emerging technology, engaging with other architects and Enterprise Architecture to innovate, in a risk appropriate manner, to accelerate corporate growth
- Engaged at all levels of the SDLC to oversee and guide technology processes and implementation of solutions
- Provide architectural leadership and guidance to IT and business teams, either formally or informally, in support of a defined set of applications
- Develop concepts, ideas and requirements into transitional and target state architectures
- Maintain a close relationship with Enterprise Architecture and ensure Solution Delivery teams are adhering to Enterprise Architecture framework and governance
- Support technical architecture design and implementation support to IT, business stakeholders and third-party vendors
- Serve as the architecture lead on large projects identifying gaps and designing solution components such as user interfaces, middleware, data and integration, and infrastructure
- Assure solutions are fit for purpose and aligned with the organization’s standards and technology ecosystem
- Support and promote technical consistency by following Enterprise Architecture’s guiding principles
- Participate in F&G’s Architecture Review Board (ARB) sessions and present solution designs for approval
- Oversee technical builds ensuring quality, timeliness, adherence to business and security requirements
- Communicate technical decisions, issues and risks to program leadership and manage technical dependencies within or external to the program
- Exhibit ownership of technical deliverables from external resources, providing review of deliverables and actively manage an effective feedback cycle
- Support IT leadership in financial planning and timing of solution delivery
- Mentor and coach others and provide input on performance evaluations
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar
- 10+ years of application development domain experience
- 5+ years of experience leading teams (formally or informally)
- 5+ years designing and integrating large complex solutions
- Experience with Life/Annuity insurance industry solutions, systems and operations
- Hands on architecture and technical leadership with finance, accounting, tax, treasury, and financial operations solutions
- Demonstrated understanding of business capabilities for financial planning, billing, payments, general accounting, financial management and reporting,
- Demonstrated understanding of data transmissions and exchanges required to support financial operations, planning and analysis, and management reporting
- Ability to effectively operate in support of a complex ecosystem of technology platforms managed by internal resources and vendor partners
- Strong knowledge of API concepts, and working knowledge of one or more API integration platforms
- Strong knowledge and experience with Oracle systems and databases
- Understanding of secure system design principles, patterns, and practices
- Excellent development and analytical skills
- Experience with a cloud ecosystems and platforms such as Azure and AWS
Preferred Experience
- MBA, Master of Computer Science, or similar
- Experience in a multi-vendor, TPA environment with multi-day data exchanges and complex integrations
- Experience with finance platforms such as Oracle E-Business Suite, Hyperion, General Ledger, and AP
- Experience with modern cloud-based application development and integration solutions
