Salary Range

$99,700 - $196,100
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a Solutions Architect!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Participate on Department sub-teams of individuals dedicated to supporting this mission and delivering data for analytic/B I use
  • Implement and integrate IT solutions/architectures/data to advance Sandia's ability to make high quality data-driven decisions as needed
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Sciences, or a related STEM field plus five (5) years' experience; or a Master's degree in a related field plus one (1) year of experience
  • Experience with designing, developing, deploying, and supporting Enterprise level production IT data solutions in on-prem or cloud environments
  • Experience in architecting IT solutions to address customer requests and meeting requirements for complexity, scalability, and availability of production-level solutions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance


Qualifications We Desire

  • Demonstrated experience working with IT Project Managers in the areas of project planning, cost estimation, and managing scope/risk/schedule
  • Experience using Agile Lifecycle tools and techniques
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented with good negotiation and communication skills
  • Experience participating in COTS make/buy decisions
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering fields particularly Requirements Management and Configuration Management
  • Experience with data delivery and data science tools like Denodo, Tableau, RStudio, Collibra, and Cloudera
  • Experience with development and automation of data pipelines
  • Advanced skills in SQL, PL/SQL, and/or other tools to integrate and prep data
  • Experience with the design, implementation, and use of data warehouses
  • Experience with using Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Experience architecting new solutions to integrate with existing on-prem infrastructure and cloud services
  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed teaming environment with a strong customer service ethic
  • Ability to review systems architecture designs with business owners and ensure alignment of architecture capabilities with customer requirements
  • Passion for deriving greater value/insight from data assets


About Our Team

The primary mission of the Data Sciences Department is to increase the value that Sandia obtains from information assets. To accomplish this mission, we focus on streamlining data access with governance, integrating and federating data, data quality issues, data virtualization, and the creation of a scalable analytic service architecture. We provide data analytics and visualization services, and software engineering of applications in support of analytic tools. The goal is to enable Sandia to obtain useful insights from data and make high-confidence decisions. We are dedicated to creating quality data and analytics products that have positive mission/corporate impact. Via data virtualization, we assist customers with issues related to data integration and disparate data sources. New data delivery and analytics technologies and methods are persistently evaluated for inclusion within the portfolio of Data Science services the Department offers. The Data Sciences Department is also responsible for the management of an external cloud environment recently deployed for a SNL mission customer. In addition, cloud-enabled data science tools are reviewed and evaluated for current and future use.
