Job Summary
The Solutions Architect provide architectural leadership on multiple, complex projects and business technologies. This role will develop and promote technical roadmaps to modernize, enhance, and support the application set of their business partners. This role will participate in F&G’s Architecture Review Board (ARB) sessions and presents solution designs to the ARB for approval. In addition, this role will strategize with business and technology stakeholders to define future-state business capabilities and requirements, and translate into transitional and target state architectures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Own and be responsible for a cohesive technology landscape for a particular business domain, within the framework of our Enterprise Architecture
- Is engaged at all levels of the SDLC to oversee and guide technology processes and implementation of solutions
- Provide architectural leadership to the team, either formally or informally, in support of their application set
- Provide architectural leadership on multiple, complex projects and business technologies
- Strategize with business and technology stakeholders to define future-state business capabilities and requirements, and translate into transitional and target state architectures
- Develop and promote technical roadmaps to modernize, enhance, and support the application set of their business partners
- Research current and emerging technology, engaging with other architects and Enterprise Architects to innovate in a risk appropriate manner to accelerate corporate growth
- Maintain a close relationship with Enterprise Architecture and ensures the Solution Delivery team is contributing and adhering to Enterprise Architecture governance
- Provide support to management on build vs buy decisions
- Research current and emerging technology, engaging with other architects and Enterprise Architecture to innovate in a risk appropriate manner to accelerate corporate growth
- Maintain a close relationship with Enterprise Architecture and ensure the Solution Delivery team is contributing and adhering to Enterprise Architecture governance
- Collaborate with business partners to understand business needs and establish a technical vision for the application set supporting their business partners
- Serve as the architecture lead on large projects identifying gaps and designing ecosystem components such as user interfaces, middleware, data integration and services
- Assure solutions are fit for purpose and aligned with the organization’s reference architecture
- Support and promote technical consistency by following Enterprise Architecture’s guiding principles
- Participate in F&G’s architecture review board (ARB) sessions and presents solution designs to the ARB for approval
- Manage technical builds ensuring quality, timeliness, adherence to business and security requirements and budget
- Communicate all technical decisions, issues and risks to Program Leadership and manage technical dependencies within or external to the program
- Contribute to the design of all new solutions brought into the application set to ensure alignment to security and technology guiding principles and the technology ecosystem
- Exhibit ownership of technical deliverables from external resources, providing review of deliverables and actively manages an effective feedback cycle
- Support IT leadership in financial planning and timing of solution delivery
- Â Mentor and coach others and provide input on performance evaluations
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar
- 10+ years of Application Development domain experience
- 5+ years of experience leading teams (formally or informally)
- 5+ years designing and integrating large complex solutions
- Experience with Life/Annuity insurance systems and operations
- Strong knowledge of API concepts, and working knowledge of one or more API integration platforms
- Understanding of secure system design principles, patterns, and practices
- Excellent coding and analytical skills
- Experience with a cloud or hybrid platforms such as Azure and AWS
- Strong SQL writing and tuning skills
- Strong capabilities in MS Office, specifically advanced spreadsheet usage
- Ability to effectively operate in support of a complex ecosystem of technology platforms managed by internal resources and vendor partners
- Strong project management skills
Preferred Requirements
- MBA, Master of Computer Science, or similar
- Experience in a multi-vendor, TPA environment with multi-day feeds and complex integrations
- Experience with electronic order entry platforms such as AnnuityNet, AFFIRM, and FireLight
- Experience with DTCC Insurance & Retirement Services (I&RS) integrations

- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities, assign appropriate resources, ensure quality, and maintain high standards
