Solutions Engineer
Job Description
The Solutions Engineer seeks to understand the customer’s need, while using their engineering expertise to work with onsite Operational Teams to create a customized solution. They are to define the required service; research and develop the best engineered cost ensuring we meet our customers’, our company’s, and our people’s needs. The business will operate as outlined in the Crescent Way- 3 P’s:

- Incorporate best safety practices while developing Engineered Line Drawings
- Ensure Safe and well-maintained Work Environment and conditions throughout all workspaces, facility, and surrounding areas
- Actively participate in Safety Committee activities and initiatives and champion and engage all staff and employees in cultivating and promoting a Safety-First culture
- Support Training Program for new start-ups to ensure work standards and expectations are clearly defined.
- Train and monitor staff as required, recognize, and develop People so that all have the opportunity to meet their greatest potential while proactively addressing areas of conflict and underperformance.
- Promote a Work Environment where Crescent People are valued and can safely communicate, grow, and develop.
- Champion the Crescent Culture of Doing it Right, Doing it Safe, and Doing it Well and abide by all written and understood policies and procedures
- Support all business development efforts through engineering the solution, price modeling, production line layout development, and cost modeling (including staffing, equipment, facility, and system costs).
- Perform organized time studies to both confirm Labor Standards and adjust underperforming programs
- Research all relevant packaging and site production history, insights, and designs to ensure the customer’s need is understood.
- Develops comprehensive packaging engineering specifications for production usage and cost modeling
- Support Cross Functional Teams to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedules are met
- Collaborates with Sales Operations and Production Management to research ideas for line improvements to ensure we stay competitive
- All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the identification and training of an individual capable of successfully completing all stated Key Responsibilities as appropriate to maintain integrity of position for progression planning and coverage during times of absence
- Sustain and drive Lean Manufacturing and 5S activities driving Quality CI initiatives
- Attend and participate in New Build Meetings ensuring that all assembly steps and line staffing/pacing is understood by the teams
- Analyze customer-provided comprehensive packaging assembly and/or fulfillment specifications to generate Cost Models
- Seek input and solution review from Operations, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and People Groups
- Collects and analyzes production line setups and performance data to create Engineered Line Drawings (ELDs) to improve Crescent’s competitiveness and win new business opportunities.
- Collaborates with Operations Finance and Sales Operations to stay abreast of Crescent and Customer sourcing strategies
- Builds trust with our customer, establishing a strong and open relationship in which the customer is a stakeholder in our long-term success
- Builds a trusting relationship with Sales and Site Operations to facilitate the necessary discussions to ensure areas of improvement are understood
- Drives Continuous Improvement by analyzing packaging handling/assembly steps and step time requirements to ensure a cost competitive solution
- Actively investigates and engages vendors/suppliers to develop value-added solutions
- If assigned, investigate under-performing programs to ensure future development for both Estimates and Production standards
- Improve operational efficiency and waste reduction
- Align and optimize the allocation of Line Workers and production resources to meet established production and company goals
- Estimate and manage the correct consumption of all Crescent-owned material and supplies

- Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong capabilities with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications
- Strong understanding of packaging design, assembly, and customer specifications
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) experience
