About the role -
The Solutions Engineer - API role at SmartBear provides an exciting opportunity to work with a company that helps the world's most recognized companies develop the world's best applications. You will work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment as a trusted advisor for the internal sales, marketing, and product teams. There are no quotas or cold calling required, allowing you to support technical sales assignments while receiving strong compensation incentives for your valuable technical insights and contributions. You will be provided with tools and training to elevate your performance and become an industry and product specialist. The role focuses on API development and testing platforms and includes responsibilities such as delivering product demonstrations, assisting prospects with technical POCs, and providing technical troubleshooting to prospects.
Responsibilities:
- Focus on our API Development and Testing platforms
- Develop and deliver product demonstrations
- Assist prospects with technical POCs of our API products
- Help Sales qualify a prospect and match our products to the customers’ needs
- Provide technical troubleshooting to prospects and display the value of our products
- Respond to product usage questions from prospects via email/chat
- Provide technical insight for the Marketing team and assist in content creation and presenting on webinars
- Travel to industry events to represent SmartBear and occasionally visit prospects and customers (Up to 5% travel)
- Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
- Convey feature requests and new requirements to the Product Management team
- Work with the Customer Success team to help technical onboarding of key clients
- Train new Sales team members on values of our products
We are looking for you if you:
- Have 2+years of experience developing and/or testing APIs
- Worked directly with customers or internal clients to resolve technical problems
- Practical working experience with the OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, or other API specification ecosystems
- Experience using API testing and design tools such as ReadyAPI, Kong, API Fortress API, SwaggerHub and PostManÂ
- Working knowledge of API Load testing is a plus
- Experience using API virtualization tooling is a plus
- Work well in environments with fluctuating priorities, and looser structure
- Ability to travel (no more than 5% of the time)
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Within commuting distance to our headquarters in Somerville, MA, or our Coconut Creek, FL office
