What You'll Do:
Traeger is currently seeking a Sourcing Engineer to join our team. The Sourcing Engineer will have the responsibility to partner with our internal product design and engineering teams as well as our global network of contract manufactures in a supporting role for new product development launches, product quality, and supply chain optimization activities.
How you'll help us win:
- Represent Sourcing in cross-functional Value Analysis and Value Engineering team by leading communication of manufacturing expectations, decisions, engineering changes, and creation and evaluation of deliverables
- Supplier manufacturing support to execute legacy cost reduction projects, new product development launches, and supply chain optimization.
- Lead and manage technology integration and supplier innovation to the supply chain that results in lower total cost
- Proactively seek new manufacturing technologies and offer these technologies as solutions where appropriate
- Participate in supplier qualification and development in accordance with the global sourcing strategy
- Coordinate with product quality team on supplier quality initiatives
- Perform regular manufacturing performance reviews with suppliers to drive continuous improvements
- Develop an effective approach to present and obtain sponsorship from senior leadership on opportunities
What you'll need to bring to succeed:
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical engineering or other quantitative disciplines
- 3-5 years of working with international ODM/JDM contract manufacturers for consumer products. (Appliance and/or Outdoor Furniture highly preferred)
- Experience working with contract manufacturers that specialize in metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, and final integration/assembly of finished goods
- Ability to read and interpret ‘Bill of Materials’ (BOM), engineering drawings, Gerber files, engineering change notifications and related technical information as well as experience in using CAD software such as Solidworks
- Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment with several stakeholders
- Attention to detail and ability to analyze and communicate complex data
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time
- A proven track record of cost reduction and productivity improvements; ability to influence and drive change while building solid relationships with your internal clients and external vendors
