Description

The Saguaro Power Company provides utilities services. The Company generates and distributes electric energy.

The Sourcing Specialist procures materials and services from suppliers and subcontractors. They are responsible for all aspects of the procurement process including: preparation of quote, quote analysis, source and prequalify suppliers, evaluate material and services, database maintenance, file management, invoice issue resolution, and audit support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Requires strong contract and services abilities, technical editing of work scope, understanding of company terms and conditions, and accurate monitoring of changes to purchase orders from award to delivery.
  • Solicits bids from various vendors to ensure the lowest cost and highest quality of required parts and services.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of all required safety products.
  • Responsible for shipping & receiving and loading and unloading all items to and from vendors for repairs. Maintain tracking paperwork and vendor contacts.
  • Negotiate price, terms & conditions, delivery, and contract changes with suppliers in accordance with Procurement Policies, including changes to labor/construction contracts, charges for termination, restocking, logistics, expediting, schedule changes, and monies due to NRG as a result of warranty claims, faulty material or poor workmanship.
  • Evaluates the pre-qualification of bidders, including insurance and safety requirements.
  • Writes contract work scopes, source justification documents, purchase orders, service contracts, long form construction, engineering, equipment and turn-key project contracts of high dollar value.
  • Responsible for contract administration to modify terms & conditions or specification as needed, ensure supplier compliance with contract terms and deliverables, purchase orders, freight terms, and payment terms.
  • Ensures contracts for emergency response teams are updated to comply with required environmental permits.
  • Oversees and monitors annual contracts for deliverables and demurrage costs.
  • Monitors supply records for stock usage, inventory, location, and receipt.
  • Maintains inventory levels at the minimum and maximum level as established by management.
  • Warehousing duties as assigned.
  • Arranges for alliances with various vendors to reduce on-site inventory.
  • Reviews, utilizes, and updates computer based work management system.
  • Works directly with management team for maintenance & outage planning, budgeting, and accounts payable.
  • Manages multiple conflicting deadlines.
  • Maintains professional relationships in a team/matrix environment. Use group process skills to accomplish goals, achieve results and resolve conflict.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as required or assigned.
  • Be well versed with accounting, budgeting, and finance tie-ins to Purchasing.
  • Complies with NRG and Saguaro Environmental, Health and Safety program.
  • Adheres to company policies and procurement policies, and promotes company mission statement.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in all activities and encourage personnel within the department to do the same.
  • Works in concert with the management team to assure excellence in customer service.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse, office, and storage facilities.
  • Available for travel as needed. Estimate 10-20% travel for training, seminars, and other project support.

Scope:

Works under limited supervision both independently and in a team environment. Maintains multi-million dollar warehouse inventory. Involves contact with all levels of employees through management, and frequent contact with vendors and contractors.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience
  • Demonstrating a working knowledge of procurement principles is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, procurement, or related field or the equivalent in training and experience is a plus.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Nevada driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to certify and maintain fork truck operation certification.
  • 3 to 5 years experience purchasing materials and services for electric or gas utility, aerospace firm, construction, or manufacturing or related business.
  • Familiar with using a computer based work order, inventory management, and purchasing system.
  • Demonstrated experience indicating effective communication skills, analytic ability, detail orientation, and ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
