Sous Chef

J Carver’s is seeking a Sous Chef to join our established team! J Carver’s lead by Chef Owner John Carver is ranked Top 100 restaurants in the U.S. by Open Table 2023, and 2024. The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in assisting the Executive Chef and General Manager in the execution and quality control of all J Carver’s standards daily. Job Responsibilities · Participate is daily food quality checks and line checks · Maintain proper sanitation practices, ensuring kitchen cleanliness and organization meet Health Department standards. · Participates in inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of all necessary products and optimal storage for quality preservation. · Reports to the Executive Chef and Chef Owner with improvements of standards or facility objectives · Participates in training staff · Recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new hires · BOH scheduling · Lead daily BOH pre-shift, with clear communication on daily objective and weekly goals. · Quality control on the expo line of each entrée before it leave the kitchen · Perform additional tasks as assigned by management, including cleaning and organizing · Ensure cleanliness and organization of all restaurant storage area’s · Build report and relationships with our vendors Qualifications • 1-2 years of in a kitchen leadership role in high-volume, fine dining restaurant • Knowledge of computer software, including Toast, Compeat, Hotschedules • Financial experience managing budgets, payroll, and scheduling. • Texas Food Handler certified. • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time • 50+ hours a week • Knowledge of culinary tools and equipment, including knives and commercial appliances.
