The Aerospace Corporation Space Systems Group (SSG) serves as the technical and programmatic advisor to the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) for acquiring, developing and fielding capabilities for the United States Space Command and joint warfighter, as well as to maintain America's comprehensive military advantage in space.
As a Senior Project Leader in the Integration and Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Department within the Integrated Missile Warning Missile Tracking Missile Defense Subdivision of the Space Based Sensing Division, you will provide system integration support to SSC Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) programs.
Work Model: Some telecommuting is possible depending on customer needs.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide the Government with system integration (space-ground) expertise for the Next Generation OPIR Programs
  • Apply focused system integration methods, processes, and tools to identify, assess and enable the resolution of technical disconnects within the Missile Warning/Tracking/Defense Enterprise
  • Ensure that the Government and Aerospace management have current and complete knowledge of the program integration technical and programmatic status
  • Participate in program status assessments and independent risk assessments that inform Government and Aerospace management of perceived technical problems and recommend courses of action
  • Supply to the Government's oversight of and insight for contractor system integration strategies and detailed planning for their system functional and performance testing for the ground, space, and combined ground-space capabilities
  • Deliver ground development technical support for integrating, testing, and transitioning the space assets to their ground systems
  • Recommend integration requirements for digital engineering models and simulations at the system level
  • Represent Aerospace in program meetings and technical forums such as design reviews, technical interchanges, and program management reviews
  • Prepare briefings and reports to provide status and recommendations to the Government and Aerospace management on the technical assessments and analyses performed by Aerospace to support the integration process
  • Interact regularly with Government teams, development contractors, and other collaborators across the Missile Warning/Tracking/Defense Enterprise
  • Define critical system integration decision points and landmarks/events to ensure the successful transitioning of system capabilities from development to operations

What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Leader
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, physical science, mathematics, or related technical degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 12 years of related professional engineering/scientific experience with at least 8 years of current space system integration experience with national security space systems
  • Experience and understanding of OPIR Missile Warning, Missile Tracking, Missile Defense mission areas
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering concepts and Model-Based System Engineering tools
  • Successful track record of working in a highly dynamic program office environment with a mix of Government, FFRDC and SETA personnel
  • This position requires a current Secret clearance, which is issued by the US Government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Capability and willingness to acquire a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Available to travel within and to/from California and Colorado
  • Exposure to Model Based Systems Engineering model development
  • Collaboration skills to build effective links with SSC teams and other mission partners Capability to develop with the government a Mission Integration plan and roadmap for the multi-segment delivery of missile warning capabilities and performance to transition to operations

  • Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, physical science, mathematics, or related technical degree from an accredited institution
  • A current Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US Government
  • Participation in the successful integration of ground and space segments
  • Knowledge of Aerospace methods and prior experience coordinating with the Aerospace Engineering & Technology Group
  • Familiarity with Space Systems Command or National Reconnaissance Office space systems

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
