Space Planner Supervisor II
Facilities & Support Services teams support Ball Aerospace's 40 properties, over 2 million SF of real estate, in Colorado. This established team of over 95 Facilities professionals is committed to service and support, continuous improvement, and creating and maintaining Facilities which enable world class engineers and technicians to create a better, safer, and more informed and productive world.
Ball's Planning & Interior team designs office space in new and existing buildings, manages space, oversees all furniture and people moves, space planning activities and supports growth across Ball campuses in Westminster, Lafayette, Broomfield, and Boulder. Planning designs engaging spaces within Ball offices that ensure Ball facilities foster an inclusive and dynamic culture across our campuses.
As the Space Planning Supervisor II, you will oversee the day to day and strategic space planning activities of Facilities Planning. You will interact and collaborate with all levels of Ball employees on matters related to facility space planning and strategic space management and serve as primary point of contact for project space planning, allocating space for program expansions and/or contractions, and gathering growth projections and employee counts from internal teams. You will report on space planning data related to building and campus occupancy levels, employee churn, and overall space utilization within Ball buildings.
What You'll Do:
  • Supervise the Facilities Space Planning team, developing and mentoring team members and overseeing team day to day activities and strategic space and campus planning initiatives.
  • Develop detailed space plans and layouts that allow for maximum flexibility as programs, or the organization, grow and/or contract.
  • Conduct short and long-range space planning and analysis based on team feedback, annual growth projections and changes in overall business priority and space allocation strategy.
  • Work with Admin, Operations and Facilities partners on all space planning and coordination needed for program expansion and/or contraction, and large campus wide moves related to program growth and/or contraction.
  • Partner with Industrial Operations to ensure building layouts are cohesive and match Ball's overall space planning methodologies.
  • Partner with Ball data analytics teams to analyze gathered data and utilization metrics to make recommendations for master plans, strategic growth plans and overall organizational growth and/or contractions.
  • Develop and maintain tracking mechanisms for monthly space utilization reports, updated block and campus plans and maps and churn metrics.
  • Create updated SOPs and documentation for space requests, space allocation, billing/SF, and general updates to space allocation within Ball campuses. Define and train on key KPIs for space planning team and service expansions related to Facilities Space Planning efforts and policies.
  • Analyze functional space needs for SSU/SBUs teams for office space, tech seating within labs and/or technical space, and within classified and unclassified areas within Ball campuses.
  • Forecast space requirements based on verified existing space information, forecasted space supply/demand and growth projections for all Strategic Capabilities Units (SCUs) and Strategic Business Units (SBUs).
  • Identify areas of improvement for the department and initiate process improvement efforts to improve space planning related processes.
  • Periodically inspect buildings to ensure availability of space; conduct regular space audits to determine space needs and priorities for required changes to allow work progress in a sequential order.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evolving Facilities Management trends, office space design, and space allocation best practices and translate changes in work environment design into dynamic spaces for Ball employees.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:
  • BS/BA in a related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degrees in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Facilities Management, with an emphasis in Facilities Design or Project Management, preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years commercial Facilities Space Planning related experience and 3 years of experience managing staff.
  • Facilities Management, Project Management and/or Interior Design industry certifications or accreditations preferred.
  • Experience supporting Aerospace and/or Corporate Facilities, and familiarity with classified and secured work environments, preferred.
  • Familiarity with IFMA and ANSI/BOMA standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CAFM/IWMS systems (ARCHIBUS experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated oversight of successful teams and driving projects to completion.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between campuses as needed, to support projects.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance preferred.

Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • Ball Aerospace is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees and is required as a condition of receiving contracts from federal agencies. This includes the use of some CBD products. A post-offer, pre-employment drug test is a condition of employment.
  • Work is performed in an office environment.
  • Role will have the option to work remotely two days/week after three months and successful completion of Facilities Planning Onboarding and team trainings.

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $73,500 - $99,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
