SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of the Aerospace Systems Engineering Division (SED), the Model-Based Systems Engineering Office (MBSEO) is charged with utilizing MBSE capabilities to provide Model Based space systems engineering, analysis, prototyping, advisory support, and education to government decision makers and other stakeholders. Our team members create, use, and evaluate engineering system models that describe and analyze complex space systems. We leverage a variety of MBSE modeling languages, methods, and tools that not only to help define system requirements and architectures, but also to estimate system design constraints such as performance, cost, and security.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Develop and evaluate system models at different levels abstraction using a range of modeling languages and tools (SysML, UAFML, UPDM, Cameo, Sparx EA, Rhapsody etc.) to support customers that acquire, operate, and manage space, missile defense, and nuclear systems.
- Develop analytical computer models and software tools to rapidly create and analyze system concept designs for the concept design center (CDC) and other corporate centers (see our CDC video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzu7SBoMDbU).
- Train other members of Aerospace technical staff, program office staff and government customers on MBSE.
- Infuse MBSE practices into our development programs and advise our customers on how to implement MBSE in their own programs.
- Create and maintain models that Aerospace subject matter experts use to support program milestone reviews.
- Share lessons learned and best practices across the MBSE community.
- Train Aerospace engineers to become MBSE representatives within their own organizations
- Be a major contributor on project teams to develop system models at various stages of system lifecycle.
- Assist with advising government customers on incorporating MBSE practices in their own space, launch, missile, and ground system programs supporting all aspects such as mission assurance, requirements development/traceability, and concept of operations development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline (Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, etc.) from a recognized institution
- Experience with MBSE modeling languages, and tools:
- Modeling Languages such as SysML, UAFML and/or UPDM
- Modeling Tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect, Sparx EA, Rhapsody, Cameo Collaborator, OpenMBEE
- Modeling of aerospace systems at various domain levels such as architectures, vehicles, and/or payloads
- Knowledge of core space, ground, launch, missile systems and other aerospace systems
- 2 or more years of related experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current active DOE-Q, Secret, TS, or TS/SCI clearance
- MS or higher degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering or relevant discipline
- Knowledge of MBSE methodologies such as MagicGrid, OOSEM, or SysMOD
- Experience with Syndeia, Tom Sawyer, Tableau, web services interface, cloud computing, containerization, and microservices
- Familiarity with programming languages, such as Python and Java
- Familiarity with concurrent engineering methods and tools
- Experience in all levels of space systems engineering including vehicle level and architecture level
- Relevant OMG or INCOSE certifications

$70,999 - $123,920 - $176,842
