Job Description

Title:
Spacecraft Initialization and Operations Support Engineer

KBR is seeking an experienced SIGINT operator to perform initialization and operational support for a leading-edge SIGINT satellite systems program office in the Chantilly, VA area. Provide technical and programmatic support for the development of CONOPS, command and control, architectures, requirements, test verification, and operational procedures for on-orbit assets.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for satellite payload initialization, on-orbit testing, calibration, and other activities in preparation for operational handover
  • Provides expertise and support in the operational fielding of satellite system, to include reviewing operational procedures and test plans
  • Plans and executes operational rehearsal activities with mission ground station
  • Assists in readiness assessment of mission ground system operators, and oversee operator training
  • Track testing and operational discrepancies and other database management activities
  • Perform programmatic risk identification and assessment
  • Provides strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff
  • Coordinates with multiple partners/agencies to ensure programmatic milestones are met
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy-oral and written

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years DoD/IC work experience
  • SIGINT Operations background and familiarity with SIGINT missions, and experience interacting with mission partners
  • Experience with scheduling and tasking SIGINT assets
  • Experience with Commissioning/Initialization of a satellite
  • Experience with discrepancy management or baseline management
  • Database management support to COTR
  • General satellite operations experience
  • Fluency with IC organizations
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
  • Understanding of SIGINT operational environment and corresponding mission user needs
  • Satellite operations training experience
  • Knowledge of system engineering, development, and manufacturing requirements
  • Experience in planning and executing test campaigns for space systems
  • System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office

Education:
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or similar in scope
  • Relevant MA/MS/ME degree is highly desired

Clearance:
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and a Counter-Intelligence polygraph

Location/Travel Requirements:
  • May require travel up to 30% of time within the continental United States
