Job Description

Chronicle Books is looking for a Special Markets Sales Manager with a track record of success, and the ability to develop relationships to drive current and new business. The Sales Manager will have full responsibility and accountability for our work with all our outside Gift Sales Organizations. They will actively grow our business by setting & delivering goals, forecasting, creating sales strategies, and supporting selling to key and indie accounts. They will manage day-to day business and account specific promotions, and they will provide feedback to inform Chronicle Books' publishing efforts. The Special Markets Sales Manager will drive the continuing development and growth of Chronicle Books and our distribution clients' sales in the independent Specialty Channel.

Handling Rep and Sales Account Management, meeting or exceeding sales targets for independent specialty territories, creating reporting and analysis for each sales territory, and developing new business while being strategic with customer relationships are central to this job. The Sales Manager will train commission sales reps, manage our company's presence in showrooms around the country, and plan/manage seasonal conferences/shows (NY NOW, ASTRA), including attending the shows. In addition, they will curate and create sales tools, manage sales-related information in Salesforce.com, provide ongoing feedback to editorial and marketing and instill a culture of continuous improvement and support.

Requirements

Applicants will need a minimum of five years' account and/or rep management experience in the book or gift industry, demonstrated success in managing and growing sales, and the ability of a strategic thinker who can achieve plans. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Salesforce is needed; Edelweiss, Brandwise, Pharos, Ribbon, and Shopify experience is a plus. Some travel will be required.

Employees at Chronicle Books follow a flexible hybrid schedule of working a minimum of 2 days per week and up to 4 days per week in our San Francisco office, depending on project and business needs.

Hiring Salary Range: $68,000 - $78,200. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including but not limited to: the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible for our profit share plan.
