Job Description

Position Summary

Rockwell Automation's Safety, Sensing and Industrial Component Business (SIC) is seeking an experienced Special Project Engineer Brand to be a member of a product development team responsible for the evaluation, qualification, and release of brand labeled and factored products. The Special Project Engineer is the technical point person in the SIC business for the branded product. The position requires the proven ability to manage projects to established development process, prepare engineering documentation, test products to qualify performance, and collaborate technically with brand label partners. Products will be developed while working with cross-functional team members in a global work environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Up to 10% travel domestic and international

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience using engineering test equipment to analyze and troubleshoot products/components
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience working with printed circuit board-based products/components/assemblies for new product development
  • Desire to develop new products by collaborating with strategic partners and qualifying their designs to meet Rockwell Automation functional requirements
  • Technical knowledge and experience with electro-mechanical system design and complex assemblies
  • Experience with EMC/EMI, shock & vibration testing, and ingress testing
  • Proven ability to manage multiple project activities while keeping projects on schedule
  • Demonstrated experience working as a team member in a global work environment, applying the appropriate amount of delegation and individual contribution
  • Experience creating Engineering drawings and documentation for a co-branded product
  • Ability to make appropriate and effective use of oral and written English to communicate, cooperate and negotiate with diverse individuals and groups
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Automation products and/or other industrial control panel solutions and applications
  • Familiarity with SAP for product data management
  • Knowledge of domestic and international standards, especially UL and IEC standards for industrial control products
  • Experience with Industrial product communication protocols
  • Familiarity with security requirements and process to evaluate products for Security performance
  • Previous mechanical and/or electrical product design experience
