We have an opportunity for a motivated individual to fill the role of Special Projects Lead, Solutions Development Engineering. In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the team responsible for the research, testing, piloting, and rolling out of new Budderfly solutions, including but not limited to HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, and other solutions, with the goal of expanding Budderfly’s solutions offerings to clients. This role will report directly to the Vice President, Engineering.

As a project lead within the Solutions Development (SolDev) department, your practical expertise and attention to detail will be highly valued. You will contribute to saving the planet through energy efficiency engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Manage special projects by conducting thorough research on third-party solutions for enhancing energy efficiency across regional customer locations. Associated tasks include:
- Assessing and optimizing energy-related solutions to improve efficiency for clients and their facilities.
- Performing site assessments to evaluate various site conditions for the implementation of new solutions pilots.
- Designing and building custom energy-saving solutions with the intent of yielding maximum energy savings and ensuring customer comfort.
- Developing techniques to evaluate solution performance and ROI.
- Identification and testing of energy-saving products and strategies to enhance efficiencies of utilities at existing customer sites.
- Document the outcome(s) of energy efficiency pilot projects from individual solutions to entire building systems.
- Adhere to and enforce the New Solutions Workflow for the research and development of new solutions.
- Provide leadership, expertise, and insights on energy-related design/construction issues and conduct audits to propose consumption-reducing solutions.
- Manage vendor and contractor relations in the execution of special projects.
- Develop, procure, and maintain project budgets and pricing with an eye towards overall solution viability within the Budderfly model.
- Analyze pre- and post-installation energy consumption with EM&V methodologies to determine the efficacy of designed energy savings solutions.
- Work alongside other Solutions Development team members to provide all required engineering support and service required for the advancement of new solutions projects.
- Interface with Operations, Service, and Customer Management teams as needed to advance special projects; this includes, but is not limited to, pilot customer sourcing and field training for installation and maintenance.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 10 years of design and/or construction project management experience.
- Knowledge of best practices and procedures for the research, testing, pilot development, and rollout of new solutions.
- Prior experience in HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, and other energy-saving solutions preferred.
- Strong track record of successful leadership in the completion of technical projects.
- Ability to take ownership of scope and make educated decisions based on goals and current status.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE Standards and International Mechanical Code.
- Robust organization skills including attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software programs.
Compensation
$120,000—$135,000 USD
Compensation is based on factors including level of experience, skillset, qualifications, and location.
