Specialist, Indirect Sales Tax

About This Opportunity
This position will be responsible for all aspects of Corporate and Canadian taxes. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior manager, Taxes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly GST, QST and PST tax return for all provinces.
- Prepare monthly Federal withholding tax and annual filing.
- Manage sales tax and be a direct contact for sales tax audit. Respond to Income Tax/Sales Tax Audit queries. Prepare/gather requested information and supporting documentation.
- Ensure the self-assessment process of sales tax are accurate and make any necessary adjustments
- Work with other business units to ensure proper accounting for property tax and process property tax payment on time.
- Adhering to tax regulations and work with Senior Tax Manager to analyze all new sales tax legislation or changed administrative practises and communicate to affected parties as appropriate.
- Prepare and maintain all tax account reconciliations
- Assist in providing working papers for preparing the Corporation Income Tax return
- Provide tax advice to business units including research and analysis related to sales tax transactions.
- Research sales tax issues relating to specific transactions/ongoing operations to ensure compliance with indirect tax regulations
- Work with tax consultants on sales tax projects
- Engage in tax savings projects and be able to identify saving opportunities.
- Other ad hoc tax projects

Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in sales tax (GST/HST, QST and PST) compliance
- Strong technical Canadian sales tax background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field: CPA certification preferred
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines and problem solve a variety of tasks simultaneously to ensure timely and accurate completion
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills and with a high level of attention to detail
- Experience with online research tools
- Good negotiating skills an asset
