Technology Services Group (TSG) keeps BNY Mellon's technology running and defines and executes the firm's technology strategy, positioning us for tomorrow. From the computers and collaboration tools of our employees to modernized infrastructure platforms and core services, we ensure that the firm's systems are running optimally while enabling business innovation and productivity. We also oversee BNY Mellon's architecture and data, guiding the firm through the technology changes necessary to execute business strategies.

The Mainframe Storage Management Team Provides support with all things related to Mainframe Storage Software & Hardware infrastructure configuration. This includes server software that support Mainframe Storage products. The team currently has 18 staff members located across the United States and India. We are divided into two support teams.

1) The first group is RTB (Run the Business) team which this open position is for the RTB group support the Day-to-Day storage operation.

2) The second group is the CTB (Change the Business) team which supports implementation of new product and hardware, along with other storage related projects.

The Role

We are seeking a Specialist, Infrastructure Engineer that will be a part of the RTB group at BNY Mellon.

You will be supporting daily storage management responsibilities, like working incident tickets of job abends that are related to space abends, working user request to add DASD to storage pools, updating ACS code, Rotate in on-call coverage, etcThis individual will also get involved with CTB projects as time permits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tape management software & hardware experience. A Tape Subject Matter Expert with CA-1 and RMM
  • Knowledge of VTS configuration & connections via ficon director to CECs
  • Ability to help users with tape issues/question & job abends.
  • Able to learn and support other non-tape storage.
Qualifications
  • 4 years Mainframe Storage Management support experience.
  • Available to work some weekends and late nights as needed
  • CA-1 TMS & RMM SME.
  • IBM Tape hardware SME.
  • Knowledge of Jes2, Catalogs, etc
  • Experience with z/OS Storage, DFSMS, DFHSM, DFSMSrmm, ACS routines and Catalog management tools.
  • Knowledge of IBM DS8890s, CSM, GDPS, SGC would be helpful
Preferred:
  • Python, REX & SAS coding skills
  • Tape software support: CA-1, RMM
  • IBM Virtual Tape Library support (TS7760)
  • TCT (Transparent Cloud Tering)
Contributes to developing and monitoring the organization's technology architecture and future technology vision. Develops reports in conjunction with the Fellow Architect which demonstrate business opportunities and road map strategies that add business value. Drafts proposals on infrastructure architecture needs for M&A activity, and supports the creation of executive summaries. This person is a subject matter expert in at least one of the tools/technologies used in the space. Conducts and leads analysis to correct systems, applications, software, and hardware that are not compliant with Corporate policy/procedures. Works closely with external vendors, internal teams and business partners on large infrastructure engineering projects. Provides input and recommends processes in developing project plans. Monitors project progress and provides regular status reports to management team. Works closely with Application Development and Quality Assurance and Testing teams to understand infrastructure needs during the development and testing processes. Applies IT expertise in strategizing how to best develop infrastructure that will allow development and testing processes to be secure and efficient. Evaluates the effectiveness of the organization's existing infrastructure technology. Stays informed of current industry trends and emerging technologies. Researches and analyzes trends to recommend and implement upgrades that enhance the reliability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure. Performs more complex production support tasks. Automates basic manual processes. Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members Contributes to the achievement of multiple teams' objectives

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred6-8 years of related experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
