DIRECTV is looking for a talented, highly motivated, self-driven individual with technical experience in large-scale video distribution to join our service operations team as a Specialist. You will work on a team that owns monitor & control and technical recovery for our entire lineup of channel services from acquisition through downlink; the ideal candidate will be the calm in the storm during Critical incidents.
What you'll do:

• Ensure consistent, high-quality digital television signal transport and satellite transmissions.
• Provide on-site technical support for DIRECTV. You will develop strong working relationships with Content Team, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure a high level of quality is maintained and continuously improve the customer experience.
• Leveraging broadcast and utility tools for service restoral.
• Installation, diagnosis, and maintenance of critical on-air video, audio, RF, baseband, signal processing, transport, and transmission equipment.
• Participate in Incident, Change, and Lifecycle Management.
• Summarize, document, and present technical information in verbal and written form.
• In this role, you will be a part of a technical team working to ensure that incidents are managed effectively, with minimal impact on our business and customers.
• Run incident command during availability incidents and follow-up with appropriate teams and vendors during live and post-incident recovery.

What you'll need:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in computer science, data structures, algorithms, and software design
• Experience programming in C/C++/Python
• Experience with Linux or Unix environments
• Experience with operating systems and networking protocols
• Experience with computer hardware and server hardware or troubleshooting/diagnosing

Special Requirements

• Be able to cover any shift spanning the 24/7 environment, including weekends, holidays, and overtime
• All candidates must possess a valid ID and successfully pass a drug test and background check

Preferred Assets:

• Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment
• Experience in maintenance and monitoring of server systems
• Experience with Linux operating systems
• Technical knowledge and aptitude, with technical writing skills
• Ability to influence and persuade others without direct authority
• Ability to read and understand source code written in Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript
• Ability to deliver communications and documentation in the format best suited for diverse audiences
• Ability to identify metrics to analyze health of services (e.g., service uptime, resource utilization) and report on them

Physical Abilities:

• All candidates must be able to lift 30 to 40 pounds
