About the Job
Specialist participates in product related projects and special initiatives to support competitive analysis, product performance reporting and ad hoc reporting requests. They are subject matter experts and participates on teams to deliver effective operational-natured data validations and monthly updates.
What Will You Be Doing
- Supports price analysis and other data analytics related to segment specific competitive assessments
- Supports segment specific rate review competitive input
- Independently works to identify and interpret key observations and opportunities
- Maintains a working relationship with Product Managers and Sales team members
- Independently responds to ad hoc competitive pricing and data requests
- Comprehensive understanding of the changing market, including the result of Health Care Reform and implications to members, employer groups, and benefits
- Develops and delivers executive level presentations, data and recommendations to advance product and segment objectives
- Accountable for cross functional/business collaboration at all levels, and influences outcomes
- Independently works to manage segment specific updates and reporting
- Independently works to develop the desired data metrics, analytic tools, reporting templates, and analytics in support of product performance-driven analyses
- Helps identify drivers of performance-related issues, including partnering with Product Management Team to design, populate and track segmentation and strategy-related analyses and tactics
- Establishes and maintains critical partnerships with leadership and SMEs across finance, marketing, sales, actuarial, delivery systems, and service
- Actively engages in the development of segment objectives aligned to CPI for growth, P&L and customer loyalty; gathers and analyzes market backed data and product performance data, and utilizes business partnerships to drive results
- Drives product performance and forecasts, through product data analysis and ongoing coordination with functional area SMEs, identifying drivers and critical tactics for corrective actions
- Identifies trends, issues and resolutions for enterprise and segment financial objectives
- Demonstrates strong overall industry acumen, specifically related to Product portfolio and performance, to support key partners in decision making and action planning (30%)
- Independently delivers ad hoc assignments and projects
- Works with Product Management Team independently to produce the desired data metrics, analytic tools, reporting templates, and analytics in support of ad hoc product analyses
- Exhibits intermediate to advanced level coding (SQL) and manipulation of data in Excel using pivot tables, complex formulas, Macros, VBA, etc.
- Support analytical needs of Product Development, Product Management, and Sales
- Works with Product Management to help ensure benefit design principles are applied and adhered to when developing new plan offerings
- Supports the maintenance of product-related Sales tools (e.g., plan relativities, small group product mapping)
- 4+ years related work experience.
- Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience
- Understanding of the health care and/or managed care industries
- High level understanding of product performance principles and history
- 3 or more years of analytical or professional work experience
- Intermediate level of writing SQL, SAS or related coding language
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, VBA and macro coding)
- Ability to multi-task and adapt within a constantly changing environment
- Ability to synthesize data, uncover inherent trends in the data, and communicate findings to manager
- Knowledge of PC software (Excel spreadsheets, graphics, word processors) Familiarity with programming languages (SAS and/or SQL experience)
- Communication and interpersonal skills, verbal and written Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
- Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.
- Must be able to occasionally travel to multiple locations for work (i.e. travel to attend meetings, events, conferences).

Salary
To support your financial wellbeing, we offer competitive pay as well as opportunities for incentive or commission compensation. We also conduct regular annual reviews with pay for performance considerations for base pay increases.
- Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $78,800 - $98,50
- Annualized Salary Range: $78,800 - $128,100
- Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
