Main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED) in the Aerospace Corporation. This division comprises all aspects, from architectures to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.
We are looking to hire a Section Manager who will provide leadership to our Spectrum Engineering and Policy Section team within the Communications Architectures Department (CAD). The selected individual will play a critical part in guiding the development of spectrum regulations and policies to assure critical wireless systems have access to necessary spectrum resources. CAD also performs trade studies, analyses, and simulations to optimize the overall communications performance of terrestrial, satellite, launch vehicle, and ground-based systems.
This role which may be in support of our El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA locations, may bring some flexibility to support in a hybrid work model; though, the majority will be required onsite.

What You'll Be Doing
Job Summary:
- The selected individual will look to provide technical leadership and management oversight to the Spectrum Engineering and Policy Section of the Communication Architectures Department / Communication and Network Architectures Subdivision
- Assist the Department Director in project management, staff development and department management with a focus on spectrum management
- Interface with program offices, define tasks and schedules, build technical teams, and manage those teams
- Assist in acquiring and executing new business activities
- Recruit, hire, mentor, performance management, department resource management, and strategic planning
- Provide communication architectures and spectrum management guidance to government customers such as the Department of Defense (DoD)
- Represent spectrum management concerns, leveraging bicoastal expertise
- Travel to customer facilities as requested.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or another related discipline
- Minimum of 8-years of relevant experience
- Strong background in communication systems, architectures, and networks
- Knowledge of International Telecommunications Union (ITU) or National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) or Federal Communications Commission (FCC) spectrum management processes
- Project development experience and demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer interface skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with customer and contractor personnel in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
- Ability to present results effectively in briefings and technical reports
- Excellent organizational, as well as written and oral communication skills
- Previous organizational management or mentorship experience
- Active and current U.S. Government Security Clearance - Top Secret with SCI clearance level access
- Travel to customer facilities as requested.
How You Can Stand Out
Skill Sets Desired:
- Master's Degree or PhD in electrical engineering, communications, or systems engineering from an accredited university
- Working knowledge of interoperability and standards; protocols and infrastructures; wireless communications and network design
- Knowledge of various government programs including those from SSC and NRO, as well as knowledge of commercial satellite systems
- Management or technical leadership experience
- Knowledge of programming languages (Python, Matlab, C++) and software development.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
