Splunk Administrator

The Opportunity:

Premier International is hiring an experienced Splunk Administrator to join our growing team in Chicago.  

In this role, you will work directly with clients to understand their business needs, identify and define technical requirements, and become an expert with respect to their data. You will apply innovation, intelligence, and problem-solving skills to build custom solutions for their specific needs and guide them through large-scale technology transformations. You will benefit from mentorship and coaching from our industry experts. Travel throughout the United States, and sometimes internationally, is required for this position.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone with experience working as a consultant, data analyst, business analyst, or similar role. This candidate will have a passion for using technology to design innovative solutions to address a never-ending stream of challenges on behalf of clients who have huge needs but lack the ability, experience, time, and/or tools to do it themselves

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Supporting one of our large SaaS providers in maintaining their Splunk instances
• Creating, modifying, and deploying Splunk apps to facilitate the security log processing
• Monitoring the resource usage and the capacity of the Splunk instance closely can collaborate with the MonC team to scale up/down the cluster when necessary
• Troubleshooting Splunk performance issues and stability issues
• Provide technical support and answer questions from Splunk users.
• Work with customers and support to resolve bugs and support issues.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering with 5+ years of industry experience
• System administration experience and cluster administration experience on large-scale Splunk instances
• Experience with public cloud services (AWS or Google Cloud or Azure)
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Linux shell or Python
• Preferred experience in Terraform, ansible, and Spinnaker
• Strong knowledge of security concepts: Authentication/Authorization frameworks (e.g.: SSO, SAML, OAuth), Secure transport (e.g.: SSL, TLS), Identity management (e.g.: certificates, PKI)
