As a Senior Splunk Engineer at Octo you will be supporting the mission of a progressive Federal agency You will operate the Security Event and Incident Management (SIEM) tool – Splunk Enterprise and work collaboratively with development and operational teams to set and implement standards for logging. The successful candidate will support a multi-data center multi-cloud multi-region log management system that includes to user account and access management server management monitoring and patching Splunk data management Splunk version upgrades installation and maintenance of Splunk applications and add-ons.

Program Mission…

This program will support our US Customs and Immigration Services Cyber Security Defense Services Contract that provides support to Security Engineering Branch of Information Security Division (ISD) of USCIS. We protect USCIS’ IT infrastructure and resources information systems and the information that is used in these environments from cybersecurity threats.

Years of Experience :

• 5+ years experience developing and implementing machine learning models creating and analyzing statistics and transforming and analyzing machine data.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree with concentration in quantitative discipline – Stats Math Comp Sci Engineering Econ Quantitative Social Science or similar discipline (preferred)

Location:

• This position can be staffed at the Government’s facility within the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area or any locations in the United States with requirement for occasional travel to the government facility in the DC Area.

Clearance:

• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Government Agency clearance.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Proficiency with major data science tools and languages such as Python R NiFi PostgreSQL/SQL Spark and Git
• Demonstrated experience with cleaning managing optimizing performance with and processing large volumes of data
• Familiarity with industry best practices for software/hardware optimization when processing large data sets and offers experience in the following required task areas: experience with machine learning statistical modeling and forecasting
• Experience with Hadoop Spark or other parallel storage/computing processes is a plus
• Strong background working with predictive and statistical modeling machine learning and strong expertise in all phases of the modeling pipeline
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Government Agency clearance.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience supporting DHS Agencies.
• Ability to demonstrate and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Able to clearly communicate with both customers and teammates and provide recommendations for improvements to existing software applications
• Understanding of New Relic Nagios or similar monitoring
