Sports Event Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of the Sports Event Manager is to work on the multiple sports-focused events to ensure projects are meeting execution timelines and budgets. This person will determine the resources needed to operate efficiently and will be a conduit to streamline organizational processes. The ideal candidate will have strong sports and/or entertainment industry knowledge, established industry relationships, and an understanding of event production logistics and proven successes driving multi-stakeholder programs using marketing and operational solutions to meet business objectives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Works closely with MGMRI event partners to ensure connectivity between the two parties and alignment with event objectives.

- Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations.

- Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.

- Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.

- Reviews cost-control reports, cost estimates, and shared resource requirements for projects in collaboration with internal and external partners.

- Manages project budgets and reporting across all areas.

- Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for development, organization, and material efficiency are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.

- Presents event performance reports and metrics to Sports Ventures leadership.

- Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, contracting, standards, and measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution. Manages contracts with MGMRI legal and external parties (where applicable).

- Ensures all project elements are communicated in a timely and comprehensive manner across all MGMRI Center of Excellence (COE) groups (property leadership, executive teams, finance, marketing, risk, casino marketing, revenue management, etc.).

- Perform other job-related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- 2+ years of experience in entertainment, sports, events, or related field.

- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED:

- Similar experience working in a sport, resort, entertainment, or sponsorship setting.

- Agency/property experience is preferred.

- Previous event operations experience.

- Understanding of contracts and proposals.
