SQA Automation Engineer

As a SQA Automation Engineer on the Spot team, you will drive automation infrastructure and testing best practices across the group developing the world's most capable mobile robot. In this role you will help define and create state-of-the-art automation using on-device and simulation testing of human-robot interactions and autonomy for Spot. How you will make an impact:

• Drive continuous improvement of our automation infrastructure and tests that support:
  • Spot robot firmware/application code
  • Scout web UI for remote teleoperation, missions, and data collection
  • Android tablet UI for direct, real-time control of Spot robot behaviors
  • Robotic simulator automation
• Identify and take ownership of areas to make the framework more flexible and reusable
• Work with various development teams to understand new robotic software features, then work within Sprint boundaries to create test and automation requirements
• In conjunction with the DevOps team, build a mature automation infrastructure that can scale and be well-integrated with existing development CI pipelines allowing automation to be written and executed as close to code delivery as possible

• A strong SQA background with the ability to balance hands-on duties along with delegation of tasks to other automation engineers
• A detailed understanding of how modern automation testing practices fit within the end to-end development lifecycle
• A passion for continuous improvement across people, processes and code
• An appreciation for the role that data and metrics play in the quality space

We are looking for:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in an embedded automation engineering role, ideally using Python as the primary language of development
• Experience creating and managing automation within a Continuous Integration system (preferably with Jenkins), with experience deploying at scale against multiple repositories/branches
• Experience with git and Github Enterprise
• Robotics and/or autonomous systems experience is a plus (not required)
• Experience with Web UI automation using Selenium Webdriver or similar is a plus (not required)
